Apparently Steve Breen has no concept of lagging economic indicators, economic momentum, trade wars or how massive record deficits lead to economic collapses, if he seriously thinks Trump is managing the economy well.

Companies that were supposed to invest their corporate tax giveaways in more jobs are adding low-wage jobs in China and closing American factories (Harley-Davidson, GE Waukesha plant, Carrier, Caterpillar and others). Real wages for working people are declining.

Trump is reversing and repealing the financial reforms that got us out of the Bush recession, setting up next Republican recession

    Interest rates are going up.

Healthcare premiums going up (and people losing their coverage)

Gas prices are skyrocketing (glad to plug our two electric cars into our solar panels).

No infrastructure plan, and roads/bridges crumbling

Retaliations for Trump tariffs are beginning to hit farms and factories in Middle America despite efforts at handouts from Trump to corporate and industrial agribusinesses. Soybean exports lost to RUSSIA (Putin says “thank you”)

Obama cut the deficits he inherited by TWO THIRDS OFF. Under Trump, deficits and debts are exploding to unprecedented levels that will surpass even Bush. And the phony “fiscal CONservatives” understand nothing about deficits.

Running up the credit card is “feel good” fun until the bills come due.

    “The” economy is supposedly booming.

But is your personal economy “booming”? Mine isn’t.

Unemployment is supposedly lower, but what about the pay for those jobs?

For that matter, I’ve started wondering whether the reported numbers are honest. I keep seeing news stories about big companies laying off thousands of workers, but no stories about similar amounts of hiring. Are thousands of small businesses suddenly each adding a few more employees? Do you see that happening where you live?

    Wondering.

If the American public only cares about “the economy” rather than ethics, healthcare and true freedom, they are already lost.

    A. The economy is doing okay, but at a huge cost that will have to be paid in the next administration or so. Besides, many of those jobs being taken are second and third jobs needed in order to make ends meet.B. The economy was doing manifestly better under Obama, yet these same shills screamed and shouted about how horrible he was.C. A country that will sell its soul — that is, embrace a xenophobic, misogynistic, anti-science, cruel leadership — for a little economic stimulus is a country in desperate need of a conversion. Or maybe an exorcism.

The tax cut “stimulus” is a small one time bump, probably won’t last the quarter. And we have about 40percent of the working population that can’t afford a $400 emergency and wages haven’t risen in about 40 years. Yeah, for one-percenters the economy is fine, the rest of us not so much.

The rocket has the wrong name. “Challenger” would be more appropriate.

We are borrowing 2 Trillion dollars a year. That is $6,000 per person or $15,000 per household. Can you imagine what the economy would do if we simply sent that to taxpayers in the lower portion of the economic spectrum?

The Dems borrow money when we have to and pay it off when we can

The Repubs borrow money when we can and pay it off when we have to, ( and we have never had to)

Very nice, Breen, but this should be in the fantasy cartoon category, not political cartoon category.

Do the right-wing cartoonist get the same talking point every day from their masters? Lisa Benson’s and now Breen.

Actually, this is going well for the Democratic Party. When there is a bursting of Trump’s economic bubble (and all economists use the word “when”, not “if”), I would prefer it a bit closer to the actual election, giving the actual Democratic contender ammunition with which to attack Trump.

Usually, politicians are astute enough to know not to hitch their “star” to the economy – Trump, as usual, is the exception to that rule.

Trump needs to be reminded that, if you take responsibility for a rising economy, you must also accept responsibility for a falling economy! It’s a variation of the adage, “Live by the sword; die by the sword!”

It’s not the “economy”, stupid: It’s whether I’m feeling (monetarily) better or worse. The change in the tax rules hurt me by a few $K this year, and I am better off than many voters (but nowhere near the top 30%, much less 10% who actually mostly did better). If he or his advisors are smart (that’s half possible), they are trying to cave the economy a bit now so it can rebound in time for the election.
