That is just about the size of it. The government if currently spending beaucoup hours and beaucoup money, poring over old naturalization records, looking for the most minute errors. They have deported people who have been citizens for decades. All of them brown-ish or black.
In this space if you will? Picture a line of the most Exquisite cuss words you have ever heard, picture if you will the whole nation rising up in protest, if you are a citizen already, if you were born in this country… how about if you do not answer that question and screw the (redacted) out of that census… in fact that’s a great idea… Redact the answers to all the questions you don’t like and say that they have been censored by the approval committee hahaha hahaha hahaha
It’s just one question they want to ask. And it’s been asked before. Sounds pretty benign. But the implications are interesting:
1: Given the state of ICE, even legal “brown” people may choose not to answer the door to the census taker, or more likely, will simply not return the form.
2: If the form contains that question, the odds of them not responding goes up. To near 100% for non-documented folk.
3: The census is used as a basis for calculating how federal money is distributed. Undercounting in a district costs that district money that they need in order to handle all the various costs associated with a mass of humanity (regardless of citizenship).
4: “Browner” districts tend to be more Democrat than GOP, so asking that question is a deliberate attempt to transfer funds from anti-Trump areas to pro-Trump areas.
One final note: When I worked on the 1970 census, we were authorized to “estimate” both the number and the race of folks who didn’t respond. (I don’t recall a “citizen status” question). We handled the mailed in forms as well as the ones we hauled around to knock on doors, and if you failed to answer a question, we filled it in anyway if we could guess a tolerable answer. I ‘spect it’s still that way: Don’t just leave it blank in solidarity: Lie.
On the citizen question….trump answered Mr. Mueller 37 times “I don’t know”…so use that reply. If it was good for trump, it’s good for us. Here’s a question…you not here legally, but forced to contribute to Social Security and pay taxes…is the government taking the money under false pretenses? If you’re then forced to leave, shouldn’t the govt return the SS contributions? You’re not entitled to SS benefits, they were taken in error, they should be returned. Comments?
Our tax dollars at work! What an incompetent, lame govt. Either ask the question or don’t ask the question…You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work for trump…..duh

The question on the census isn’t about ‘them’, it’s about ‘me’ and MY right as a citizen not to be questioned about MY citizenship.

If “Yes” after “Are you brownish,” the question before “When would you like to be deported” would be:
Are you a (check all that apply):
A. Rapist
B. Gang member (if so, please specify gang affiliation)__________
C. Murderer
D. Terrorist (if so, please specify Terrorist organization)__________
E. Illegal Voter (if so, please specify in which state)_______________
