    The easier thing to do is get a can he can’t overturn & open & put all temptations into that one can. Didn’t have problems like that when I was younger & we had dogs, but then we got a cat. I learned fast what I could & couldn’t put on shelves etc. But then again in a comic Poncho could probably open the bear trash cans used in a lot of Florida counties (though so far not where I live).

    Since Poncho seems capable of detaching his ears at will, I think the ear plugs are unnecessary.

    Actually, if you look closely you can see him put the ear plugs in his ears. Look at panel 4 and you can see little plugs in his ears. He never “detached” his ears.
