I loved this day’s strip when I was a kid. Calvin and Hobbes on their own, wandering to an unknown goal, not knowing what lies bfore them… This strip has a gravity that you don’t often see in comic strips.

Yes, there are similarities but that last strip was much more optimistic. That time, Calvin was happy and seeking new adventures. This time, he feels guilty and is genuinely in fear for his life. I remembered this story arc as very light-hearted compared to the burglary story which preceded it but it does indeed have a dark edge through Calvin’s fears.
