Yes it’s a sacrifice Clarence, but it’s for the best… moderation could have helped fend it off, but now it’s abstaining from the rich foods unfortunately. :-(

My Dad was put on a low-sodium diet last week and for him (especially at his age), it is a big adjustment to make!

I know that fight. sigh. Good luck, Charlene, and hope that when he is not under your eye he will not go have a little bit on the side.

Ugh. That’s my life with Type2 Diabetes. I feel like the whole world is having brownies and ice cream for lunch every day.

You would do better making a list of what you can eat.

Gout or hyperuricemia… ah, I’m painfully familiar with it… I was diagnosed with it in 2009, and take one pill a day, and kinda watch my diet. I’ve had no flare ups since…

I had what my doctors called “pseudo gout.” They didn’t even give me the dignity of having real gout.

Having lived on a restricted diet for more than 20 years, you just have to become creative in the kitchen and adapt your favorite foods to fit the dietary restrictions.

Allopurinol does the trick for me and I can even have an occasional beer.

A few years ago I had gout and I was so ticked off that my favorite vegetable, spinach, and fruit, blue berries, were on the do not eat list.

Gout is considered a form of arthritis. It is controllable by diet and medicine. If I remember right it is formed by uric acid crystals forming in the extremities. It is not just a “rich man’s disease”. A friend of mine suffered from gout. Bologna can cause a flare up.

Regular exercise works just as well as dietary changes. Ironically, the worse gout gets, the more difficult exercise becomes.
