This doesn’t make the comic less funny, but I’m so old I remember George Carlin, back in the 70s, making a similar comment about elderly extras in movies from the 30s and 40s.
Harlan Ellison wrote a short story called “Laugh Track,” in which the distinctive voice of his dead aunt could be heard on the laugh track used over and over by terrible sit coms. It’s a horror story, obviously.
I watch a lot of old movies. It struck me that in my lifetime, many of the oldest have come to have absolutely no survivors. Even the babies in “Intolerance” are probably dead.
It should be, “a chorus of voices from beyond the grave sings out in praise”. The verb “sings” belongs to the singular “chorus” rather than the plural “voices”.
If it weren’t for pedantics, I probably wouldn’t get up to any antics at all.
