Unofficially the nation lost its soul long ago, kicking the can of slavery down the road until after the Civil War. Then came the war on African-Americans by people wanting to deny them the rights granted by the Feds but opposed by the states. Women, people of non-Christian religions, all have felt the wrath. Income inequality. People with mental/psychological issues being kicked to the curb. Gun deaths, not only from mass shootings. President Trump is just the cherry on the top.

I have mixed feelings on this – Trump is insane, but he is a figurehead symbolizing the real insanity that has been gripping the Republicans over the past twenty plus years.
