Thinking yourself appreciated and understood is one of the most positive experiences in life. Those with no clue as to who we think we are appear to us obtuse or mean spirited.
Our self image often adapts to the whims of the mind and external pressures. Mere flattery and instant agreement surrogates for genuine understanding. We can be manipulated by those who stroke our self image’s longing for affirmation.
We more readily recall pleasure than pain. A junkie is always chasing that first high – Build the wall ! Build the wall ! A failed political candidate remembers the applause – Lock her up! Lock her up!
The commonplace experience of being misunderstood – “How could you even think such a thing of me! Anyone who knows me would never dare…” – illustrates the spinning perceptive triangle of communications which complicates human relations to the point of absurdity.
Who you really are, who you think you are, and who the world thinks you are, surround human relations like a dense fog. The only rational course appears to be fusion between your self image and your actual self.
Outstanding positive examples are the evolution of a Bono, a Theodore Roosevelt or, best of all, a Helen Keller. They wrote their own script; it can be done, for good or ill. The all-time champion of negative examples is Mr. Trump. No fusion – no wall – no reelection – no hope.
I’m not going to be petty and gloat over Trump’s defeat (we!!, not much anyway). But honestly, what kind of so-called “leader” tries a stunt like this to the detriment of our government workers? Get him out of that chair in the Oval Office; he is unfit for the position of President.
It was getting quite annoying. I am more convinced that this wall business is nothing but an attempt to divert attention from his other weakness … and it appears that it exposed his weakness in working with others. His announcement to open the government doesn’t even sound like it was his doing, just something he had to do because others had to point out the negative fact that other people suffers because of his hubris. I bet his report cards as a kid said, “Doesn’t play well with others”, too.
This may be the beginning of the end for Trump. He has run into something he never encountered before. Unlike jellyfish McConnell or spineless Ryan, Nancy Pelosi was not impressed with his chest-beating, name-calling and empty threat tactics.
These are the only tools Trump knows how to use. Now that they have been seen to be ineffective, more people will start standing up to the bully.
Worst of all is the damage to his image not only to himself but with his base. Their God isn’t omnipotent, he is not the “tough guy” that he claims to be and worst of all, he was beaten by a mere woman.
But concentrate on the comedy of the situation (almost everything is funny if you look at it in the right way)—the slapstick spectacle of a gross, Falstaffian stable genius character with the best brain and the best words and a memory that is the wonder of the world, flailing around like a bear with a sore nose without a clue about what he’s gotten himself into or how to get out of it. The cream of the jest is that his most ardent “supporters” (in the jock strap sense), namely Truss Limburger and Aunt Comforter, don’t seem to like him, and definitely don’t trust him.
His biggest shock came when he found out what every one else already knew: he can fire advisors and WH employees, but he can’t fire congress. Thank goodness for at least the appearance of the separation of powers, although that’s a little thin, given McConnell’s penchant for having his nose close up the presidential behind.

Trump: “Wall wall wall wall wall wall wall wall wall wall wall wall”
Nancy: “No wall.”
Trump: “OK.” Waves white flag. Unconditional surrender.

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and entrances;
This man in his time plays one part.
Exit, stage right

Yah. He owns this shut down and he is going to be Pelosied in the agenda every time he pulls this sort of stuff.

I’m just afraid that he is so obsessed by this wall that the shutdown’s end is only three weeks from restarting.

Drumpf should just tell his minions that he built the wall. They’d believe him and we could spare ourselves a few billion dollars.
