This has been an on-going running gag in both the strip and the two animated TV shows.

Why do people ask questions they don’t want the answers to, like…

Mom – What are these clothes doing on the floor!?

Son – Just lying there.

You would think after all these years that Jon would know that Garfield doesn’t want to eat those mice. If he wants to take care of his mouse problem, he needs to get a mouse trap that catches them live.

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it’s all about?
