Most people in the world want a better world for their children and accept the evidence that we have caused a life-threatening, disruption to the rate and direction of climate change and are willing to work to avert it rather than follow a self-destructive political ideology that has no basis in reality.
Ͳhey were a boy and girl. Yellow, meagre, ragged, scowling, wolfish; but prostrate, too, in their humility. Where graceful youth should have filled their features out, and touched them with its freshest tints, a stale and shriveled hand, like that of age, had pinched, and twisted them, and pulled them into shreds. Where angels might have sat enthroned, devils lurked, and glared out menacing…
Scrooge started back, appalled…he tried to say they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude. “Spirit! Are they yours?”
“They are Man’s,” said the Spirit, “And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ɨgnorance. This girl is Ɯant. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Ɗoom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!” cried the Spirit, “Slander those who tell it ye! Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse. And abide the end!”
“Have they no refuge or resource?” cried Scrooge. “Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?…”
“There are many things from which I might have derived good, by which I have not profited, I dare say,” Christmas among the rest. But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round — apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that — as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. — Dickens
@genome_project – No way. That would be wrong. Bad idea. Kin to censorship. Thou shall not bully. Abrogation of natural consequences. Goofy stunt. Ixnay on the otplay. Nah.
@Tauruz – Yes, we are all very well aware that the world runs on fossil fuels. Would it be too much to ask if you would consider that the entire point of our common dilemma?
The Romans depended on lead to serve much of their food & drink – probably couldn’t imagine life without it. Poisoning yourself and your children in order to not be called a hypocrite by the fringes seems a bit much…

Wonderful clean Republican coal to destroy the climate and pollute the world with CO2 when it least needs it.

I promised to mail a sock full of coal to the White House…my neighbor said the secret service would think it was a bomb and have me arrested…or shot.

Must be a lot of bad people this year who previously hide or overcame their baser instincts.

Taurez — We know that. But we have alternatives and our government should be encouraging shifting to those alternatives while we still can.

As long as that coal was not in any way being burned or released into the water supply, it’s not bad, just obsolete.
