Amen to that! I picked up something at Walmart yesterday and noticed all of the cashiers were wearing “festive” head pieces and the self checkout area was done up with strings of giant novelty Christmas lights. Yeah, that won’t get old real quick!

I think I would have had a different cartoon for today showing a vast, bombed-out wasteland with an elephant on one side and a donkey on the other each sharing the balloon “Who won?”

The shadow of the little girl look like a person with their hand pointing to “get out”. I wonder if that was intentional or I am just reading something that was not purposefully put there.

December 21st is the shortest day of the year and it isn’t noticeable until that the days are starting to get longer until the 25th. The sun gods of ancient religions used this to build stories that incorporated this event into their mysticism. Christianity seems to have borrowed from their predecessor religions and now the corporate Christians seem to have expanded the celebration from days to weeks and now months before the root astronomical event. TR (and my great-grandparents, I’m told) thought that putting “In God We Trust” on currency was sacrilegious. I wonder how they (TR and my great-grandparents) would feel about the abuse of holy days by today’s DIY, born-again, evangelical/dominionist, non-establishment “Christians” with perceived (imagined?) guidance from the Old rather than the New Testament.
