This is perfect – with the church’s separation from Government being eroded as the Idiots try to build the wall to separate humans!! He will shutdown the Government if the wall is not included in his budget — that’ll teach the Democrats – even though there are enough Republicans to put it through. In a way we hope he does – it really demonstrates his hatred for Mexicans. It has been proven the wall will not stop drugs through many various ways — Shooting drugs over the wall with those Tee Shirt cannons they use at ball games, drones, and even a real submarine for the Rio Grande along with the thousands of tunnels already working. Maybe we can get a cannon that would shoot him over the wall!!
What no one has addressed is the importance of the problem of the damage that this wall will do to the habitat and migration patterns of the areas that will be impacted. The ego trip of a singleminded, simpleminded erroneous premise that a wall fix any problem is definitely an enormously wrong-headed solution that cannot and will not do anything more than cost billions of dollars and will fix nothing .
Putin wants to wreck the world economy, break up NATO, and destroy democracy around the world. This is exactly what Trump is doing. Still waiting for someone explain how Trump is not a traitor. MAGA, my a$$.
I have to wonder how many “Christians” want to tare down the separation between Church & State thinking that it’s their own specific religious beliefs that everyone else will be expected to live by and would get pretty upset if it was someone else’s specific beliefs they’d instead be forced to live by.
@Andylit, you should know better than that. The freedom to practice YOUR religion requires freedom from being forced to kowtow to SOMEONE ELSE’S religion. This theme shows up in a vast amount of Constitutional law and precedent. The concept of separating Church and State goes right back to the Founders, because they saw it in British history quite strikingly. What Jefferson and Adams and others feared most was an institutionalized religion, like the Church of England, or the early Puritans in the US, and rightly. Having chaplains and prayers in the Congress doesn’t obviate that. There’s a quote by Jefferson which is often wrongly used out of context which reveals that when he swore hostility against tyranny, it was against organized religion. To wit:
“The delusion into which the X. Y. Z. plot shewed it possible to push the people; the successful experiment made under the prevalence of that delusion on the clause of the constitution, which, while it secured the freedom of the press, covered also the freedom of religion, had given to the clergy a very favorite hope of obtaining an establishment of a particular form of Christianity thro’ the U. S.; and as every sect believes its own form the true one, every one perhaps hoped for his own, but especially the Episcopalians & Congregationalists. The returning good sense of our country threatens abortion to their hopes, & they believe that any portion of power confided to me, will be exerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly; for I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

Freedom of, not freedom from.
The founders most assuredly intended for there to be faith and prayer in the public square.
In case you hadn’t noticed, Both houses of Congress have had chaplains and prayer since the founding.

@Andylit: “Freedom of, not freedom from.”
I can’t have freedom of my religion without freedom from the religions of others.
Or are you saying, Andy, that I have a right to impose my religion on yourself?
