Aww yes…the “chicken dance”. No one ever did it better than the character GOB Bluth (portrayed by the very funny Will Arnett) on Arrested Development. What a great show.

In other words these chickens live as chickens are supposed to live.

Even the expensive egg cartons are less expensive than a frozen dinner

A farmer friend gave me a dozen brown eggs recently. The big ones were all whites and small yolks, the little ones were vice-versa.

Our hens give us fresh, delicious, expensive eggs. Upkeep is expensive sometimes. But they are birds, and I love birds, and I keep the ones that don’t lay anymore, because they are my babies, and I love them, and they love/tolerate me. We have 13 hens right now, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte, 5 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Speckled Sussex, 1 Black Copper Marans, 2 Rhode Island Reds, and a Barred Plymouth Rock. I love when Jimmy draws about chickens even if they are not pictured! Bring back Meg and her chicken coop please!

The local co-op farmer raises some brown egg varieties. He told me its because the big city and bedroom community folks are willing to pay so much extra for them. He told me he can taste no difference.

The ones in the store have such thin shells. The ones I’ve purchased right from the farm (back yard) are so much thicker. Did the egg companies engineer thinner shells?

Also get the benefit of good pest removal from free-ranging birds.

I spent some time wondering how you “Pasteurized” eggs without soft boiling them. Then I read the strip one more time…

Pasteurized chickens? Wouldn’t pasteurizing lead to non-functioning chickens?

Make a batch of scrambled eggs (or an omelette) from farm-fresh eggs laid by chickens that aren’t pumped full of hormones and antibiotics. Trust me, you’ll pay the extra to not have to eat factory-farm eggs from the supermarket ever again.

We raise our chickens that way. It’s the most expensive way to raise them, but the eggs taste so much better and the chickens are so happy.
