Before anyone starts in on the “Vote Blue” spiel, I will remind you that Democrats helped pass banking deregulation for “too big to fail” banks. Democrats helped confirm all of Trump’s nominations except for two. Democrats even helped confirm Neil Gorsuch. Just blinding voting for Democrats ain’t working. Demand better policies from Democratic candidates before you give them your votes. Do NOT let them cow you into just voting for the lesser of two evils. What’s worse, voting for a 3rd party candidate you believe in who will likely lose, or voting for a Democrat who will vote along side Republicans on all the major issues?

So you go off to do your job(s) every day without fail for 25-40 years, living & working the American Dream. Send the kids off to college and maybe they can do even better. The Dream dies hard, but it is dying.

Even though a majority of Americans have less than $1000 dollars saved for emergencies, easy credit allows us to pretend we are doing ok. The average bachelors degree will net your kids about $550 a week – or $15 per hour. Minimum wage, had it grown at the same rate as workers’ productivity, would now be at $19.33.

Your ingenuity and hard work, along with other Americans just like you, has transformed the U.S. from a primitive wilderness into the richest and most powerful nation on earth, with mini-computer phones in every hand, golf courses in the desert, hundreds of yachts in every big harbor, and Wal-Marts in every neighborhood.

The rich, Wall Street., SCOTUS, politicians, and the ‘elite’ have decided that’s all folks! Now we are simply ‘apps’ for the rich and powerful to play with or dismiss with one touch. And who’s to stop them? Congress? The courts? The president? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Jason Arnold When you vote for a candidate you are voting for a member of a team. No one, even at the local level, gets elected without backing- money, volunteers, etc from somewhere. Occasionally someone is able to win by assembling all of that on their own, but the two parties have a couple of centuries head start, so it’s rare. Once anyone, regardless of what support they had to get elected is actually in office, they have to choose sides. Theoretically, they could refuse to do that, but they would be like a person who chooses to stand on the sidelines and watch two teams. And, they would never have any power to accomplish anything on their own. To advocate support for a candidate who is unlikely to win and who will be unable to do anything if he does get elected is throwing away your vote. Instead, do your homework find out what each of the candidates believes ( check their webpage- if they don’t have one, you are backing a sure loser) and vote for the lesser of the two evils, if that’s how you want to look at it.

And, another point, Democrats are for the middle class, Republicans are for the trickle down theory. Republicans believe that you give the upper class power and money since they are the ones with the natural superiority to handle it and they will take care of the rest of us. They 1%ers have shown little inclination to actually do this, but that hasn’t changed Republican minds any, mostly because they didn’t believe it in the first place. Democrats have often voted to go along with Republican ideas. That’s because the are getting the best deal they can given the power that their team has at that time. If you want legislation that benefits the middle class put enough Democrats in office to accomplish that. What you are recommending with your “don’t vote for the Democrats just because they are the lesser of two evils” is that you field a 9 man football team to go against the Republican’s 11, with a couple of guys standing on the sidelines.

Dianne Lee has stated the issue eloquently. When your house is burning down, you do not debate which fir department to call. You call the one most likely to put out the fire. You don’t call a distant fire department who can’t get there before the whole house burns down.

Reality, folks. Deal with it as it is. Not as you might wish it to be. If you’d like to see the regressives under trump stay in power until 2024, then vote for a third party candidate, or don’t vote at all.

The only way to stop the bleeding out of our country’s aspirational values is to vote Democratic and press strongly for impeachment.

That is, if you want to preserve any shred of honor and integrity.

If you prefer regressive attacks on America from trump and the Russians, then vote for that. If that’s the America we end up with, watch out!! The 90% of Americans who are not wealthy will eventually rise up. We could then have either an authoritarian tidal wave from the right or from the left. Either will be dangerous. See, for example Venezuela on the populist left, and Iran on the populist right for a glimpse of our future.

America is under attack from a minority who doesn’t like anyone who isn’t like them – Register to vote, vote in every election and primary, bring a friend, get involved: volunteer at the polls or run for office yourself.

TLH1310 Again, that’s by comparison. The Republicans will come right out and tell you they aren’t on your side, and they have been against everything ever done to help the middle class, since at least the New Deal. You are going to find some Republicans who are helpful, but some Democrats who are not. But, everyone chooses their party. Being Republican is not a genetic defect. If you read the party platform, which is a pretty minimal requirement when you are choosing a party, you pick the one that says we are working for the middle class, not the one that talks about strengthening the whole economy ( which is propaganda speak for trickle down).
