Maybe the best depiction of pretentiousness I’ve ever seen.

Years ago I saw a work of art comparable to the Mona Lisa or Starry Night. It was two 4×8 plywood panels painted white. I was overwhelmed with its, its, its absolute stupidity. But it was in an Art Gallery Museum.

Think I’ll go and get some potato cakes. I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like.

“The world is atwitter” but now that’s one of the media for similar tripe.

“Art Critician”? That was a brilliant stroke.

(I’m getting me some new business cards.)

What’s the restaurant next to the Arby’s? Hard to make out — especially for this Canadian.

My wife’s cousin was an artist who among other things made dioramas in shoeboxes. Like Petey, only it was “art.” He was big in the local Santa Barbara CA art scene, and a really nice guy (recently passed, in his 70s). But I just didn’t Get it.

I also don’t Get abstract paintings, except one: I saw a picture of it in my HS textbook, by Piet Mondrian. A collection of rectangles and lines, it snapped into focus when I read the title, “Broadway Boogie-Woogie.” I saw the neon lights, the traffic, I felt the excitement. Interesting epiphany. Without the title, I wouldn’t have Gotten it, but all these years later I remember the piece and the artist.

    It’s at the MoMA: https://www.moma.org/collection/works/78682

Art like this can only exist while enablers with no sense of art and no understanding of the value of their excessive wealth exist.

‘Crossing the beams’ a bit here, but… well, this:http://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/modern-art-2

Be sure to click on the red button at the bottom too. I’d love to see those economists’ reports.
