The president is demonstrating to the world that he can fling his pardoning power around however, whenever, and to whomever he wants, so don’t worry about going to prison for stonewalling or perjuring yourself if you stand up to the independent counsel. “Just don’t roll over on me, thinking to save your own hide, cuz I gotcher back, buddy. You’ll never spend a day behind bars. Heck, Ford even pardoned Nixon for things he might have done or might do someday in the future. Yeah, the pardoning power is that broad, and I’m gonna use it the best way ever! Believe me!”
Trump thinks he won’t have any witness flipping due to pardons. It is the message we are now getting. He even pardoned Martha Stewart, who didn’t need one, since she already served her time… Rachel Maddow had a great segment on this of a tape with Nixon and Haldeman last night. Haldeman told him not to talk about pardons as it would implicate Nixon.
If everyone complaining on this site would register three people to vote, and then take them to the polling place, this would be over. Stop grumbling and get moving!
Trump says things that are demonstrably untrue for one of three reasons: first, he is massively ignorant about almost everything, so of course he gets things wrong all the time!Second, Trump is a pathological, compulsive liar. Lastly, Trump is seriously mentally ill (in a few different ways) and is delusional. When he says “I never said that” even when it’s on video, he might well BELIEVE that he never said it!
Trump will be resisted until he goes. No Republicans should complain about any “double standards” until they get the orange vulgarity out of the White House.
He needs to be neutralized, and then perhaps left in place until 2020, so that Pence can’t get his shopping list. The job in 2018 is to flip as many places from red to blue as possible so that the GOP can’t keep filling judge spots with young zealots who will be there for the rest of my life. Tie his hands! Deny him his Congress (and hopefully get the SC back).
