North Korea has a history of playing United States for a sucker. Trump has a history of suckering investors, as well as being sucked into trouble by his massive ego, exacerbated by his sketchy wheelings and dealings.

Trump is not accustomed to multi-lateral negotiations. He’s treating this Korean venture like one of his family-run, shifty one-on-one .business deals where he:

    —cavalierly makes and breaks agreements,

    —woos then stiffs creditors,

—promises the moon but fails to deliver,

—deceptively misrepresents his assets and abilities,

—refuses to pay and then threatens complaining workers with deportation, and

—ultimately is forced overseas in a desperate and vulnerable search for foreign bailout capital to rescue him from his multiple bankruptcy boondoggles.

All of which is complicated by a wary US financial system that has learned not to trust him and which therefore refuses to deal with him any longer (Enter an exploitive Russia and its seasoned cash-cow oligarchs).

Let’s hope Trump doesn’t follow the path of his casino catastrophes in Atlantic City. He is a reckless and inveterate playboy who shouldn’t be allowed to make America his ultimate play toy at the hands of a ruthless Korean family dynasty that also plays to win at all costs.

This potential “art of the deal” has got bad intents and impulses written all over it. It’s what America gets for electing someone unfit, poorly-suited and ill-equipped to serve.

And the Minions In Service (to) Trump will do their best to obscure the Orange Furor’s slip ups.

“He and Moon are playing good-cop/bad cop with Kim, yeah, that’s it, Kim is soooo being played”.

Kim got what he wanted: treatment as a legitimate major player. Trump got played, and it’s now obvious to the entire world that he got played, which means Kim wins. As simple as that.

Whatever happens Trump will claim it as the biggest accomplishment in human history. The trumpers will go crazy. The most likely outcome will be little or nothing. Kim or Trump can’t be trusted. Biggest crowd in history, wiretapping, election fraud, birtherism, spygate, biggest electoral victory, witch hunt, massive DOJ corruption, deep state. It goes on and on. Just another turd on the fire. Trump will do whatever it takes to save himself. Screw everyone else.

I suspect that, no matter how things turn out, Fearless Leader will follow the advice of Sen. George Aiken (R-VT) with respect to Vietnam: “Declare victory and go home.” The thing is, you-know-who’s blind-loyal followers would probably believe him.

I suggest we wait for it to play out. If it flops it flops. At least we got a couple of hostages home.

Healthy skepticism about NK’s motives, intent to carry through, etc, is absolutely required. This last little dust up demonstrates that the pundits were wrong…again.

Instead of knuckling under, Trump pulled the cork when NK ramped up the old rhetoric. Within 48 hours it was NK that made the move to reopen a path to talks.

In the end, regardless of the public view, this remains a 3-1/2 party negotiation. The US, China, NK and SK. NK will do what China forces it to allows it to do. SK will go along, grudgingly perhaps, with any deal that gives them reasonable security guarantees.

We want NK (and SK) to not have weapons and missiles. China wants a communist buffer between itself and SK. If those goals can be accomplished with a viable inspection regime, it doesn’t matter who pushes it through or who gets the credit.

On this Memorial Day, I remember the tremendous loss of life the military men and women suffered in pursuit of our freedoms. I will also note that you did not post a solemn picture of the day.

Looking at our missile history, Trump is the Vanguard.

Our own little rocket man has had a failure to launch. The incompetence of his administration knows no bounds.
