My sentiments exactly. I was told by my physician to go to the hospital ASAP and he gave me a referral letter. Turns out I had a mild stroke without realizing it. Had to spend a night in the hospital for observation. Doctor told me to do these: change lifestyle, go on a diet and exercise. Ah, the perks of being middle age.

Unfortunately, things unexpected do happen. A few years ago a niece had an issue with lump on her leg. She’s doing well, but was told it is a cancer that will shorten her life. Hopefully, advances in treatment will extend her beyond the five years they first mentioned.

Deep vein thrombosis leads to pulmonary embolism if the clots break free and go to the lungs. He’s luck he got to the hospital as soon as he did.

Looks like the results showed clots in his lungs.

Suddenly wondering how many lives you’re saving by putting this story out there. How many people didn’t know they needed to get seen, stat. One of my kids had to go to the doctor for something else entirely and purely randomly as far as she was concerned her doctor said he didn’t like that mole and he was going to biopsy it. It already had been several years earlier. He didn’t care—he insisted. Turns out it was a highly aggressive form of melanoma, caught apparently in the first two weeks. She was 27. They got it. Nine years and no sign of cancer since.

(Something similar happened to Greg … 2-3 months ago … I can’t find the Hubris comic link to where he explains what happened … maybe Greg will be kind enough to post it for us … )
