Trashy novels, a nice thing for entertainment and distraction.

Authors of a “comic” shouldn’t throw rocks at other popular fiction. It’s rude to call someone else’s reading “trashy” when it isn’t.

My main question, Grandma Evie is married where is her husband? What other treasures does Grandma Evie leave behind? Nothing wrong with Romance novels. When I grew up my mom deplored books, my dad got in westerns with Louis L’Amour, my mom could not stand him reading. I grew up without books when school was in session I check out school library books, when I started working I did buy my own. When I got much older married I have my kids check out books from the library. I also did more with my kids. When much older I moved my mom in with us and we had an extra bedroom so had to move everything out as she was dying from cancer/dementia. The location I had my books mom could not stand, my sister would cover what she could of my books. Yet my mom loved the harmonica she played before she went bedfast. I do not have a specific author. I got hooked on Dana Fuller Wagons West, and Barbara Taylor Bradford Woman of Substance, talk of hard-working young girl to woman. I have different authors. My daughter has author she likes.

To clarify my post. Where is Evie’s Arnold? I am surprised Val wants to read the books. I am different then my mom was who never liked books. My dad like one specific author mom could not stand him reading. When I could afford when gaining a job I bought books. When married then with children my son I read to him when he was little, daughter no trouble for sleep, much older library, when much older I had my mom move with us due to health, once again she could not stand my books. she did pass from health. I do not have specific authors. Dana Fuller Wagons West serious, Barbara Taylor Bradford. Daniel Steele other authors. My daughter has a specific author.

I was somehow expecting the impossible: that Evie had read No Life For a Lady, the autobiography by Agnes Morley Cleaveland, whose dad was an engineer for the railroad in the 1800s. She basically grew up on horseback and described frontier life from first-hand experience. Slow first chapter while she lays out who’s who but it totally takes off after that. Highly recommended.
