Seems perfectly reasonable to me, at least from an Alician point of view. She doesn’t get the Teddy Roosevelt bit about speaking softly, but she knows what a stick is for.
It’s Miss Bliss’s fault. She provided insufficient guidelines regarding possession and the handling of the stick, and the part about everybody getting their turn to hold it.
I was in a group with one member who was profoundly hard of hearing an had a little device people talked into if he was to hear them. It functioned quite well as a “talking stick”. We also had very orderly meetings.
