Sorry, but 1899 and 1900 are part of the same century. They were a year early.

I think I wouldn’t want to attend that church… Adam and Eve at first might though.

    Don’t you mean “December 31st”?

First, 1899 and 1900 are different centuries. A century starts at 00.

Second, they are probably right about December 30. If they started entering the dateline on the 30th right before midnight (heading east), the front of the ship was briefly in Dec 31. When it struck midnight, it would then be Dec 31 on the rear and Jan 1 on the front.

On another note, shouldn’t they call it the Red Tail Chapel?

Anyone willing to bet those chemistry sets inspired a certain green-skinned superhero?

Doesn’t the winter season begin at Winter Solstice and end at Spring Equinox? And Winter Solstice was on December 21st 1899.

The amount of radioactive material involved in that set would have been totally safe. People are more aware of dangers, but in this case they overestimate the risks.

My wife worked at a health clinic in Ivor, VA and treated a number of folks from White Tail park and yes they wore clothes to the doctor’s office.

What do they mean that the ship was in 2 different seasons? It was still winter the whole time. Did they just mean years?

Do they still sell chemistry sets. The only thing I ever made with mine was a snake. A compound that you light that snakes out leaving a cylindrical ash behind. Also a hydrogen bomb with my plutonium set made by the Dr. Evil Toy Co. in conjunction with the Irwin Mainway Company, famous for the Bag of Glass!!

when they sold uranium ore in a child’s toy, it was considered not unsafe……the craze at that time was prospecting for uranium with geiger counters to get rich quick……there was an I love Lucy episode that featured the Ricardos and Mertzes out west searching for uranium.

With acknowledgement to all the mathematicians out there who maintain that a century must begin with a year ending in ‘1’ (since there never was such a thing a year ‘0’), I would suggest that there’s a case to be made for the new century to be celebrated when the numbers roll over. That’s the fun part, isn’t it?

I find ironic that the chapel was named “white tail” if everyone goes nude.

I had one of the Gilbert sets; was boring compared to full chemical sets that had many more compounds.

That is also assuming that the S.S. WARRIMOO was exactly where it was assumed to be. The margin of error for being positioned at a certain point on the Earth at that time was probably much greater than the length of the ship.
