I know one thing that won’t be happening on this camping trip.

I don’t drink coffee, but other than that, I agree with Mom. If God had meant for us to continue living out-of-doors, He wouldn’t have inspired us to discover electricity or to invent insulation, indoor plumbing, air conditioning, and room service!

I wish I had a flying car.

Once again, the tactful lawyer.

Dad better call Rosie for this trip….LOL

No rear seat belts, a flying car, Dad, keep your eye on the road or Mom may never have a decent cup of coffee again.

Today, Mom would be complaining about no cell service. And so it goes.

Wait. What did you say about the coffee!

My idea of roughing it is a Motel 6.

Don’t have to wonder where Calvin get that crossing the arms and frowning sulk from.

Grew up camping, raised my kids camping, they’re raising theirs camping. It’s a great way to see the country. Doesn’t hurt that my son-in-law works for Fish and Wildlife!

The occasional hotel stay is nice also, just different.

Personally, I love being outdoors. Unfortunately the large amounts of heat and pollen in the air make it hard to do so. This is why one day, like Calvin, I would like to move to the Yukon. Or maybe just a spot in Alaska.

The best cups of coffee are the ones brewed in a percolator while camping. Our favourite camping spot is in Algonquin Park in Ontario.

My idea of camping is a hotel room, when you can’t find a reasonably priced condo or house to rent.

No need to sacrifice coffee! Grind some good beans and take an aeropress or a French press and you’re good to go. Ice chest for milk. What’s the problem?

I wonder why Calvin asked his father in the last panel, rather than asking his mother directly how she feels about camping. She’s sitting right there.

Camping doesn’t sound that great to me. I’d rather stay in a nice cosy hotel.

I’m with Mom.

Camping was always a break for my mom. It was agreed that IF she went camping dad did all the cooking. Dad did all the cooking. Now 40 some odd years later, Mom still camps, but has to do her own cooking. (dad passed away 15 years ago)

I started drinking coffee before puberty and stopped back in the late 1970’s.

As comedian Jeremy Hotz said, “Sleeping on the ground under a sheet held up by a pole? I work so that doesn’t happen to me!”

In that week Mom may read Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” : particularly the part which Sal live in a tent with a young lady and her son

I wonder how Dad talked Mom into doing this.
