Bold thief takes flight in broad daylight at the cosUcon

Wore gloves and mask yet none did ask, “Whose side are you on?”

Honeymoon, too cool to swoon, did witness the mad dash

With a case the crook did race to purloin all the cash.

With deep regret certificate given in lieu of dough

Fun-filled contest. Who would have guessed that theft would mar the show?

Suspects abound in costume town. Identities are hidden

Spectacular scene. None what they seem. Playful souls are bidden.

That is what? The Buster Bot! With a video cam inside

Was it rolling whilst the thief went strolling? Did she dash or hide?

Have to hand it to the bandit who did score with Tracy there

To discard disguise seems less than wise, the thief she did not care.

No evidence not happenstance. Must have been a plan

Clear to see depravity stole cash and off it ran.

The woman seated to the right of ‘Scarlet Witch’ might be a character from the ‘ElfQuest’ comics created by Richard & Wendy Pini.

In addition to ‘ElfQuest,’ Wendy Pini is well-remembered for her cosplay as Robert E. Howard heroine ‘Red Sonja’ …

I guess that Locks Leigh sells wigs (a play on Locksley, the famous home of Robin Hood in Nottinghamshire).

The other booth behind it is ?AN? While U Wait. Any guesses what they sell? I can’t think what it might be.

Detective work on the way, according to Tracy, himself. He’s glad nobody got hurt. What are the chances of someone getting hurt before this is over?

At my place, when we get there, I will have full super hero powers !

Haven’t I warned you about those red sun areas? ;o)

The women in the throw away panel next to the Hall of Fame panel are dressed as 1920s flappers. Is there any video game or comic book that features flappers?

    The end is near,

    That is clear,

Where do we go from here.

    What to do,

    When sad and blue,

    Feeling like a total fool.

    Hope for the best,

    That somehow this mess,

Will regain it’s vigor and zest.

    So we’ll keep chugging along,

    While singing a song,

That this story won’t be too long

Apparently the thief is not familiar with the fact that there is likely to be DNA evidence on those clothes.

Notable top row with a distinguished Hall of Famer followed by flappers. The gals bring to mind a “Roaring 20s” themed “As you Like It” I saw at a Shakespeare Festival year ago. Great art! The shift from facing Svengoolie and Tracy to being behind them is very effective, allowing for a nice variety of costumed folk and the Buster Bot. The move across the street to the alley puts us at an advantage over Tracy. We know where the thief tossed her disguise. Good detective work and a little luck could indeed crack the case, although Tracy’s cases tend to come with complications, many unforeseen.

Thanks to Night-Gaunt49, Vista Bill, Neil Wick, ave09, Chris Sherlock, Ray Toler and JPuzzleWhiz for the kind words. Very Much appreciated.

And where is Honeymoon? My guess is that she is tailing the thief.

Just to the left of Svengoolie – in the second story panel – you can make out the silhouette of that Hela or Aku cosplayer who was waiting in line when Honeymoon and Tracy arrived on-site.

As for the two young women immediately to the left of Svengoolie in that same panel …

Can’t get a positive I.D. on either of them.

One appears to be dressed in a ‘Cave Girl’ costume, but is not a character that I immediately recognize.

The other might be a ‘Magical Girl’ of some sort.

‘Magical Girls’ are a genre unto themselves, and not a genre I’m knowledgeable enough with to lecture about.

While Astor’s brother tends the empty Buster Bot, and Tracy commiserates wth Svengoolie, the Omniscient Eye lets us see the discarded disguise of the thief in the dumpster behind the establishment across the street from Locher. We know that; seemingly, the guy in the apron discarding trash does not (at least, I assume he’s discarding trash and not retrieving loot as part of the heist-gang).

A propos of very little except that I like it, here is a favorite little bit of anime animation/cos play (Cajun: you must like it! The Power of Sisyphos commands you!): http://tinyurl.com/ljaoaqh

Anime conventions can be one, two, three, or even occasionally four-day affairs [… if they happen to fall on a holiday weekend.]

The primary masquerade, or ‘Cosplay Contest,’ would likely be a Saturday event – Possibly a Sunday event, at a four-day convention.

What I’m getting at is, there might be time to solve the case before ‘CosUCon’ holds its closing ceremonies.

It would be hilarious if, on Monday, Team Tracy smash-cut to an entirely different story, and left the outcome of this one dangling.

Not sure if the haters would be down with that or not.
