Brilliant use of the censor bars, Ms. Eliot. Adolescent girls sure need to learn about modesty. (Also remends me of that Brian Hyland song from 1960, but for parental embarrassment instead.)

I dare say it probably is too lose to hide much of anything anyway. This isn’t Europe after all.

And the tide will probably rip the “suit” off anyway! Holly for SI Swimsuit Edition! (When she’s old enough.)

Good thing she brought her black bars with her.

My mum would always buy my bathing suits and present them to me. I went to a boarding school and her excuse was that all the suits were gone by the time I got home.

Little girl not so little any more?

Bikini season my favorite time of the year.

“Gosh they have a lot of cute suits on sale”; said no middle aged woman ever.

Is this just a Sunday comic, now?

Thanks for the coverup for Holly. Cover up over kill but decent.

Funny – mothers don’t want their daughters to be like the mothers were when the mothers were their daughters’ age. Some things never change.

Still, don’t forget, Holly is only 14.

I’m no prude, but there’s only so naked I’d want my 14-year old daughter to be on a public beach, or with friends at a pool…

And so much I could enjoy the adult men on this site making inappropriate remarks about her adolescent body.

 

In a couple of years, I still wouldn’t like it, but a skimpy suit would probably be the standard in her group, and I might have to reconsider.

Then again, few 16-year-olds have adult awareness of personal safety… and in some ways I’m glad they’re still innocent.

That means that along with buying her clothes, housing and feeding her, and teaching her about life….

protecting her from harm she doesn’t quite understand yet would be part of my duty as a parent.

Human brains are not fully formed till the middle to late 20’s when the frontal lobe is matured last and starts shrinking first.

The popular notion is that girls are more modest than boys where nudity is concerned. A few years ago i was at a beach in Wales in the UK and there was a girl that was about 9-10 years old and she was completely naked playing with other children her age and none of the kids cared one way or the other. A true instance of innocence.

And by the expression on her face she is doing it for shock value.
