No Christmas music or decorations until the World Series is over. There have to be rules in society.

The local Woe-mart was already pulling down Halloween stuff and putting up Xmas stuff Monday afternoon, before Halloween was even over.

Wrong! You should focus on Thanksgiving now. It’s very important to remember what you should be thankful for in life.

Kwanza and Chanukah are happening the same time this year. You can go for a fusion soundtrack.

@LeadingEdge Now that the folks who posted the graphics in their comments are gone, it makes it so much easier for you to monopolize the remaining comments.

Might as well go into town and see how much half-price candy there is.

When I was a little girl, second world war has just ended, people were very poor, and Christmas Decoration started only, when Advent started, my mother baked cookies, but I was only allowed to eat them on Christmasday!!

My relationship certainly no one, they were very nice and good people. My father was fireman, my uncle was guard in the tram and others were musicians, one uncle in the opera of Berlin, but no one fought!!

I got to where I never cared a lot for sweets as my birthday is Nov 1 and between the Halloween candy and the birthday stuff, it was overwhelming. Luckily (unluckily) I have acquired my taste for sweets again.

Thanksgiving is skipped because it can’t be commercialized, but that’s not a bad thing. Shouldn’t we have one holiday that isn’t commercialized?

    .

Once you’ve tried Junior Caramels, you will never go back to Milk Duds. Junior Caramels melt in your mouth. They’re what Milk Duds wish they could be in their dreams.

35 years in the neighborhood and i had a first time - last night i watched my new neighbors put up Christmas decorations while the ‘early’ trick or treaters were going door to door. it was kind of weird seeing a house with lit up Christmas lights and decorations by a house completely lit up and decorated for halloween. with seemingly so little hope in the culture anymore – maybe some need to look forward to something that reminds them of happiness for a little longer time than others. (and yes i know the crass commercialism that exists – however my neighbor isn’t a store, just another couple who live in a house in the neighborhood who must like Christmas time)

So, I read through all the comments, and now I am confused as to what season we are actually in. I mean, the World Series and Halloween are over, some retailers are already promoting Christmas stuff (and a few started weeks ago), Thanksgiving is about three weeks away, followed immediately by Black Friday, Kwanzaa and Chanukah are celebrated at the same time this year, and I have no idea what a fusion soundtrack is (maybe the sound of a small Ford?)…

    Oh that’s right, it’s FALL!

If he goes into town alone he will be picked up and sent to Social Services and his parents will be arrested.

You should be ashamed of yourself! That was completely uncalled for. Many so-called collaborators were faced with the choice of cooperate with us or we kill your family before we kill you.I might as well ask you how many Native Americans did your ancestors slaughter or how many blacks did they enslave.

Money wins in all aspects of life.

When I was young, marriages were always accompanied by a (usually short) honeymoon and a chivoree (sp).

Since many couples these days live together before marriage, the honeymoon has lost its purpose. So why is the honeymoon still with us and the chivoree died out? Travel agencies push expensive trips, but the only expense for a chivoree was a couple gallons of cider and a few dozen doughnuts – not much profit there!

For the younger folks – a chivoree was usually an informal reception, men brought shotguns (with blanks) and played cards and the women caught up on the local gossip. A lot of noise, but unfortunately, little profit for the merchants!

Thankgiving is just relevant for Grocery stores, really, with a slight nod to decor items themed to Fall. Other stores go into high gear for Christmas on October 15th!

So true…my personal tradition since I was (physically, mentally well…) a child, is that the Christmas season does not begin until I see Santa Claus at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.

It continues to be a trend now, what at least 20 years later? I’m suddenly blanking on this strip’s age.
