A rouge naval AI, is it the same one from way back? I thought that lucranian ship was blown up ,this could be good or bad depending on how messed up its program is..

I think I remember Flask was the first to gain control. Could this be the same situation? However, how does it know Wally’s name? Getting even more interesting now.

The ship took a couple hits, but escaped after it acknowledged Wally as captain and he ordered an instantaneous relocation.

It recognizes Wally as captain, so it must be the ditto bunch from the Queen. Wally’s last order was to instantaneously transfer “anywhere” so maybe the Fitz and the Queen are the same ship?? Marx’s dittos made the Queen invisible, but the Queen had dittos of its own, so maybe it can take on any appearance. Well, this is a fine Friday “how do you do”. Next stop, Labor Day. ;-)

If it’s that guy, what happened to the Opabinia Queen?

Not sure why the AI didn’t recognize Wally before this if its the one from the Queen, so I think its a different AI. But given his control of the dittos, I guess it decided to acknowledge him as new ships captain?? Maybe through his travels he made it to the bridge.

So the AI is calling Wally “Captain”. Does this mean he’s back on the Opabinia Queen, or has he found a new Lucranian vessel?

It is interesting looking back at May 2012 and seeing how Aaron’s artwork has evolved and gained in confidence.

As I recall, Marx (to the extent you can trust him) stated that the Lucrecians essentially hijacked vessels and converted them to their use, so these could be different ships. Additionally, if they were without captains the first person to the bridge would become the captain. (hence my supposition that somehow Wally made it to the bridge)I.m sure Aaron has something else in mind, so full speed ahead.

Well, I’m going to guess that this is the same ship as the O. Queen. That Marx changed it’s appearance, it seems like the Lucrecians don’t have imagination to come up with such a fancy, whimsical ship, and this is where the instantaneous relocation went. Probably not true but it is what I think may have happened.

If you take a look back to February 16, 2012 you may find that the Opabinia Queen is much larger on the inside than it is on the outside. Just imagine the shear size of the hold for storage of the stuff they are harvesting from the ground. It couldn’t possibly fit inside the wooden ship we see from the outside.

I stand by my theory that this is a separate Lucranean ship and that the Lucraneans somehow incorporated Lyn’s personality into the systems as its supervisor. Like the Opabinia Queen, it had been without a captain, and now it has imprinted on Wally. I think Lyn’s personality wanted Holly to be the captain instead and fought against Wally until he forced Lyn to accept him.

I stand by my belief that, while the truth may be out there, I have no idea what it is. This could either be the Queen or its another abandoned Lucranian vessel and Wally just happens to be the first one to make it to the bridge. The question is what will Captain Wallechinsky do next? If this vessel can be made to pull itself out of the dust and move under its own power, Wally and company would be in a very nice position. If not, and if the AI refuses to let Wally leave… Things could get interesting. Knowing what little I do about our esteemed author, I’m guessing this will be the latter scenario. Aaron loves conflict.
