Whoo hoo! It’s Chez Henri tonight! This is my idea of a great anniversary gift as well.

Man, they are persistent. At least we have “Cool Hand somebodyshort” keeping an eye on them.

I think they should reject any comment with a $ in it.

vanpelt sorry you feel that way. I have neighbor’s don’t have children. My sister and her hubby wanted children when they first married found out sister couldn’t. Hubby and I have two now adults boy and girl. My only regret and can’t go back we didn’t have more my hubby on the other hand two is all he wanted. I admire couples that have a lot of kids there’s lots of love there and lots of help when parent’s get older. Hubby and I did okay with our kids a resturants with kids. Gave them variety and once fed mellowed out. Now we go where we want.

I think that new accounts should have to reply with captchas from now on.

How about making new accounts select their favorite comic then make them answer questions about the comic? For instance:

What is the name of Val and Joan’s mother?

Anyone who likes the strip will be able to get that one right but a spammer would actually have to do something to figure it out.

    Hey, I flagged it too!

Incidentally, criteria is plural (it’s a Greek word). The singular is criterion.

It’s an automatic reaction on my part - sorry.

I was thinking if I had ever been to a restaurant without a kids menu, and realized that I actually have. My daughter took me to The Melting Pot for my birthday. And she is the perfect example of the return on investment of kids. She was a teenager just like Holly, and now she is a woman and mother who makes me so proud!

Spammers aren’t people, they’re computer programs (let loose by people who are spammers, but the actual posting is done by a bot). So you’re correct that they can’t answer trivia questions, but adding captchas would accomplish the same thing without someone having to program it especially for this site. Technology to foil technology.

I don’t see the real problem with kids and restaurants if you teach right from the beginning. At 10 and 11 our children,a girl and boy, were walking down to a small restaurant in our little town and ordering thier chicken dinners on thier own. That had even been taught how to leave an appropriate tip. They were always welcome.

I have 4 kids and it was worth the work…they’re all adults and I actually miss the days of weird comments and behaviours.

I taught first aid to Cub Scouts on Saturday about animal bites and one boy asked “what about a shark bite?” Hilarious because we’re land locked! (Told him he’d be a snack ‘cuz he’s small and if he actually was bitten it was because he had his hand in someone’s aquarium! Love it).

I agree with you Red Steph. I have 5 children (hubby only wanted 2, but I talked him into more :)) and one girl was quite a trial to raise. However, now she and I have a wonderful. relationship. She is a very sweet , loving wife– and mother to our wonderful grandchildren.

I love my kids, but I can understand Val’s request. When I have a chance to eat without my kids, I like to go to restaurants that don’t serve the type of food my kids enjoy.

Anyone who live with kids know they are a full time job so any break you get you take and try not to hae to deal with other peoples kids!!

Just because we need a break from our kids does not mean we do not love them and are REALLY glad to have them. I love my friends, my job, and my hobbies, but I need a break from them, too, now and then

I also have GREAT kids (all in their 40s-50 now), but having to eat where burgers or chicken fingers are available ALWAYS can be a pain. I love to try a place with a real chef and some “ambiance”. My BF and I took his youngest with us to a lovely place, and I thought she’d at least like the cantalope wrapped with procuitto (sp?) but she fussed about everything and ruined the evening. She’s also now grownup and married like my kids but she was the youngest. Sometimes you want a grownup meal that you don’t cook yourself;-)
