Hint: He looks like he’s wearing a badly taxidermied orange ferret on his head.

“God” from “gheu” means to “invoke the deity” so everyone has elided it to mean a generic deity name. We even have Goddess, and of course the plural gods. In German, “gudam”, old high German “got”, “gudigaz” possessive by the deity".However it is called Theology from the Greek “theo” which means deity or spirit. Now a “theoi” is a kind of invisible muse which some people seem to get like Socrates who claimed it was with him all of his life. With Joan de Arc until just before she was burned at the stake.I know that isn’t how it is been used by the general population and of course the specialists too. Vox popli wins out again.*

Actually, the idea of god as ultra-powerful computer has been around in science fiction at least since Isaac Asimov’s story “The Last Question” and Frederic Brown’s “Answer”.

In the republican party, god is the giver of the second half of the second amendment, and is also referenced in the response to a sneeze, “Benghazi”.
