when reagan and Gorbachov met in iceland, there was a mad scramble at the movie theatre accross form where the russian leader was staying, the film playing, and the front was heavily decorated, was Top Gun.
I thought Red Dawn ended rather sadly with all but one of the resistant band group the movie followed dying and the last one limping off with his dead brother. Is that swell?
I remember one of the Rambo movies being picketed by a group of military veterans (probably of Vietnam era) who resented Sylvester Stallone (who evaded the draft) not only playing a role like this but speaking in interviews as if he represented Vietnam vets.

Funny how some things never change. They are just rebooted or get umpteen sequels.

Binkley, Binkley, Binkley…war makes you swell, yes, but there’s an ointment for that!!

I wonder if Hollywood’s reliance on gun usage will abate as we become a more sensible about which firearms we allow in society.

Yeah, and it’s partly that attitude that leads to more wars. Ever notice how few veterans are thrilled about the prospect?

So Binkley is BD, Milo is Mike, and the duck is Zonker, right?

Violence sells! That is what Hollywood is all about, making money. Make war! Morals and ethics don’t apply, either.

Tell that to the victims of more than 300 mass shootings in the USA so far in 2022.

Young Binkley seems to have missed the nuances. He is no Critic!

Nobody who saw Rambo or Red Dawn would think war is swell. Exciting? Action Packed? Sure (both lies) but swell? Not a chance.
Top Gun – not war (outside the end) and, well, it’s Navy. War may be swell for them in the 80s onward.
