Next, the events take an absurd twist, they fight to decide who’s the leader of the island.

Go North, young man…. Canada is calling… Almost went there in the late 60s to avoid the draft, but I got a 4X deferment. In the event of hostilities, I could be used as a hostage. (Actually had a student deferment.)There were other times we thought about it, mainly political reasons. Yet, here I am, ignoring the whole thing.

The candidates in one party are swapping Yo Mamma jokes, calling each other liars and cheaters as they wallow in the gutter and slime. Big dust up on the other side too!The candidates each claimed they were more qualified to be president than the other one, and the other one one isn’t qualified….Oh, that is SO mean….

They’re the lucky ones. This election year has been exceptionally brutal

I wouldn’t mind if it were just the election years. These days, as soon as the votes are counted, the pundits, wanna-bes and has-beens are all grinding their axes and starting up their next campaign.

There were some castaways rescued after three days in the South Pacific (Micronesia?) recently when a searching Coast Guard pilot saw their “HELP” sign spelled out in palm fronds. All it made me think of was that Far Side cartoon where the pilot is saying, “No, I guess it does spell HELF, after all.”

As bad as this may sound and is, to some extent, trite of me; any of the R’s are better than what the D’s are trying to elect..That said, I do think that Bernie is an honest man. I do believe that he honestly believes in the socialist policies that he avows. That said Jimmy Carter was a good and honest man, but he was a sorry president. As for Hillary, Momma said if I couldn’t say anything nice don’t say nothing at all. Though I do think ultimately she and Trump are two peas in a pod. The only difference is that he has said some things that needed saying. just not very well. And on that note I will hush.

BTW: I know that I didn’t answer your question. However, I would want to explain in depth my opinion and A) we don’t have the spaceB) I have exhausted my tolerance for politics for one day.

If you read any of the overseas newspapers, they DO think we’re crazy. Not just for the slate we have running now, but the fact that it goes on for so long.

In the UK, campaigning can’t start until a certain length of time before the election (depends upon the office) and there is a set limit to how much you are allowed to spend – again depending upon the office. So if you are running (in the UK you stand for election) for a village position, you have a month and can spend X pounds. If you are standing for a county-wide position you have six weeks and xx pounds. Keeps big money out of it and prevents voters from becoming both bored and angry.

TasmanianDevil said, about 5 hours agoThere is no way that Trump will be elected. No Democrat will vote for him and he has turned too many Republicans against him. I usually vote Republican but no way I would ever vote for Donald Trump.

I hope and pray there enough people like you who don’t think voting for “their” party is a requirement to make the difference.

Look, I know some people doubt Clinton’s veracity, but when something terrible is has been said about a person for a third of a century, even though ALL, every single one the accusations, have been proven false!…But she still gets tainted by the false allegations….Over 6 years in the 90s, 80 million dollars, 5 special prosecutors and 8 grand juries couldn’t find anything, except that her husband was cheating on her…..And they never stopped, even today they are accusing her of causing one of her closest friends to be killed in Benghazi, (even though President Cheney killed 50,000 in Iraq for no reason…) They come up with the craziest things and then accuse her of it…I can vote for Bernie, but, seriously, she is the only one who is actually qualified to be president….She can find the countries on a map, already knows the names of all the leaders, and probably their children….She is a known quantity….Everybody else except Sanders scares the hell out of the rest of the world, especially Europe…For my own survival I would like to be able to vote for Clinton…..I don’t have a problem with Bernie, I just think she’s got the skills we need, and him not as much and fewer connections…Sorry to go so long, but our future is on the line here….Especially when you think about Supreme Court appointees……
