Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for January 01, 2016
Transcript:
Phoebe: It's a new year, but everything looks the same as it did yesterday. It should be different. Trees should be pink or something. Marigold, make the trees pink! Marigold: You may have begun to take my wondrous unicorn magic for granted. Phoebe: Oo, and I want the sky to be paisley!

Not keen on paisley but the principle is sound

In the long term, changing the trees’ colour would kill them, unless she also changed their biochemistry from the ground up to alter the wavelengths at which their chloroplasts functioned.

Pink trees are beautiful, but smell terrible. The sky looked paisley to Vincent van Gogh. That wasn’t really a good thing.

The easy way to do this is to cast a spell on Phoebe that causes her to see the trees as pink and the sky as paisley.

Lots of trees in Virginia turn pink sometime in March or April (depending on the kind of trees they are). Just not yet… Happy New Year!
