Rosalyn probably has a nice college fund by now.

The experience Rosalyn got dealing with Calvin has probably paid off by now in bringing up her own kids. Either that, or it made her decide not to have any.

Well, we knew that was coming, didn’t we? :)

shouldn’t it read “ruin these stockings” instead of “run”?

Yeah, 20 years ago the costs colleges charged were already zooming far in advance of inflation.

Stockings are now called hose, I think. The Brits (who don’t speak English, either), called hose “runs” “laddered”. In those far off days it was a major disaster to a woman, as they actually cared how they looked.

Great gag and layout- but by this time the adults had lost their appealing cartooniness. Watterson was putting simple, cartoon heads on more realistically proportioned bodies, and it had an odd effect. Mom looks eight feet tall- Rosalyn seems to be standing at attention; her shoulders are too broad.

Would love to see Calvin “today”. You know, get a glimpse of a 25 or 35 year old Calvin. Could be interesting.

By now, I’d be thinking, "The heck with what the neighbors (and authorities) would think — the kid’s getting SERIOUSLY spanked! (No jury in the world would convict us…)

Only doubled? Now THAT’s a bargain!

I wonder if Calvin’s parents ever considered taking Calvin with them when they went out…

Don’t worry, Roselyn will lock him in the closet.

If they would control that kid in the first place, this strip wouldn’t be nearly as funny.

Two days ago, we saw his mom dragging him to the school bus. Calvin has no perspective for abject horror.

Calmly, Dad asks, “Rosalyn, would you mind getting the tranquilizer gun? You know where it’s at.”

Next time Mom needs to put that grilled cheese sandwich dinner on a nice table in a large dog kennel and then lock the door while he is eating.

A college fund means any money you have saved for college. It doesn’t have to mean the entire cost of college. A thousand dollars can be a college fund for a teenager.

SPOILER ALERTUltimately, they got along fine – after Rosalyn proved to be a better Calvin Ball player than he.

Doubled would be $16 a night (she said in an early strip that her rate was $8 a night). Adjusted for inflation, $25 a night.

Let’s see how things will work out this time. Hopefully it won’t be a disaster like last time.

Aw come on Calvin, lighten up! After all, it is just one evening of exciting torture entertainment…

It appears that Mom is wearing some sort of pants, not a skirt or dress. So why then is she also wearing nylon stockings?
