Until now I thought Marigold didn’t know who her parents were.

Marigold is real. Unicorns may use their magic to pass unnoticed, but they are not imaginary.

It’s the Shield Of Boringness that makes others don’t pay that much attention on unicorns

Although I am delighted that my local paper is now carrying “Heavenly Nos…” I mean “Phoebe and Her Unicorn”, the paper is a bit old-fashioned and prints the comics in color only on Sunday (like all papers 70 years ago when I was little). Those who don’t see the color version are missing so much. Dana’s colors are wonderful.

This is great – I started reading this strip fairly recently, so it’s helpful to have the backstory I missed.

Phoebe was wearing a coat and scarf the first time she met Marigold in 2012. Is this a retcon?

Its true, it was winter then. But the launch here is in the spring… although depending on where they live, snow is still alive and well. Its only March! Almost April. But yeah, Lots of North America hasn’t given up yet. I am sad that there isn’t the pretty winter scene anymore.

I am looking forward to this though – I also realised that broke as I am I should probably try to grab one of the original books so I can save the winter scene as well… I grew up with all but two calvin and hobbs books, maybe I can add in unicorns for my kids :D

Slaps drosedrosedrose aross the cheek with his gauntlet. How dare you say Hobbes is not real, I challenge you to prove that he is not! For that matter I challenge you to prove that you and all you see is real and not just a figment of our imaginations ;-)

I’ve been a C&H fan for years and years, and never saw any resemblance with (I will say stubbornly) Heavenly Nostrils. Each “world” is so fully created and populated, the characters so distinct and loveable on their own, that I really have to say that the resemblance is superficial.

You are continuing to get love on The Comics Curmudgeon, Dana, and seeing that you’d joined the comments here got me to finally register! :)

Anyway, much as I loved Calvin & Hobbes, one of the things that always frustrated me was how everybody always thought Calvin was either lying or crazy because he kept on talking about Hobbes. So I was relieved during the initial run when people other than Phoebe actually noticed Marigold.

(I hope that the rebooted version still has the Shield of Boringness, btw, because I liked that.)

At the risk of inciting a riot, I really have never gone out of my way to read Calvin and Hobbes, even here; to my knowledge, I have not read it once in the many years I have been reading on Comics.com and here at GoComics. I just don’t find it that much of a draw at all; it doesn’t interest me one bit, and I am very tired of so many people bringing them up. I do however, acknowledge the greatness of C and H as a comics influence. Indisputable. To me, C and H is the Beatles of comics.< racerxyz ducks as it sinks in to others>Aside from all that……. I love this stripI have read all the strips from the beginning at least once, and have been here daily from very early on. Dana, I like Phoebe and Marigold way more than Calvin and Hobbes. Keep it up!!!There. I finally said it.

Just that one reminds one of the other because of the awesomeness. But O&M also made me think of C&H for similar reasons.
