Marigold looked more sleek and lithesome, especially her muzzle. Her eyes more expressive, her mouth more detailed. Both seemed having more depth, and the backgrounds at time were absolutely beautiful. This one (https://www.gocomics.com/phoebe-and-her-unicorn/2012/12/14) has incredibly gorgeous scenery, and is one of my favorites. This one (https://www.gocomics.com/phoebe-and-her-unicorn/2012/05/18) also shows the depth of detail of both Phoebe and Marigold, as well as the backgrounds.
I’m not at all complaining or criticizing: it happens to be a fact of life that characters gradually alter appearance over time. It’s just that, well ::soft, wistful sigh:: I miss the wealth of detail and life of the earlier strips.
I miss the way Phoebe and Marigold were originally drawn.
I hate to be nitpicky, but the way she is (currently) holding the bow and nocked arrow will make it extremely difficult to draw, and then accurately fire. With the bowstring (as drawn) across her forearm, in order to properly draw, her bow hand will be upside down.
If she keeps her bow hand properly oriented, not only will her arrow hand will then be upside down (which is proper for modern compound bows that use a release aid, but not for straight or recurve bows) but the bowstring would be cutting across and through her bow forearm. (Granted, as it is most obviously a magick bow, perhaps that isn’t all that impossible after all!)
Having said all that, I’ve always loved your artwork, and the amazing attention to details. I anxiously, and eagerly, await each new strip!
You spoiled us, Steve: several months of twice-a-week posts, and now we’re back to once-a-week.
I want a full-sized color poster of panel #1!!!
The interesting thing to remember, is that Quimp is still dead. If I understand correctly, Maledicta doesn’t heal, just keeps them going and ignores death.
According to Merriam Webster (a famous wizard along the likes of Melvwyn):
\ ˈgər(-ə)l \
Definition of girl
1a : a female child from birth to adulthood
b : DAUGHTER
Says nought about species. :P
Nowhere has it been stated whether or not they are both boys, both girls, or one each. Quimp was only told the baby dragons are in terrible danger and that he was their father. So it is entirely possible that Nittles is a girl.
I want to see that appear on a real estate listing.
It be-hooves her not to rub that in.
