Well, two things here: 1. I still doubt that’s Silver is dead: 2. No matter how much she may think she helped Tracy by killing Stiletta, he motives were not altruistic!

Sam has finally arrived, and a good thing, too, since it takes two of them to subdue Sprocket.

Okay, Sprocket, I don’t really think your brother is dead. You need to learn to read those “stars” above his head. :) So, how did she help Tracy? I know a bunch of people here were saying she should just go to the police.

Wonder if Tracy will address Stiletta’s demise tomorrow.

Sprocket’s essentially talking to herself, she can’t be sure that Tracy knows about the self-defense killing yet.

    (Although he does.)

(GASP)! Tracy actually ARRESTED one of his adversaries! I’ve been following this strip some time now and I’ve NEVER seen this! When was the last time he actually caught someone instead of killing them or having them get away?

If Silver were dead (… which I doubt, he was “Thunked” not “Whacked”) would that drive Sprocket to fulfill Mrs. Flattop’s ambitions?

And if so, would Trey be raised sans shoes?

I still say Stiletta is dead—you don’t send for the hearse if the victim is alive. (Unless you’re Abner and Rikki) Silver and Vitamin are likely to pull through. And I loved the art in the second panel. Great poetry today too

Sprocket might have “helped” Tracy by taking Stiletta out. But Sprocket doesn’t know (yet) that Tracy and Vitamin are good friends.

I am torn between having sympathy for Sprocket and not.

I very much doubt that Silver is dead. He is, I believe, just unconscious and “seeing stars” (as we saw Tuesday). So, impetuous Sprocket has lept to a conclusion just as recklessly as she leaped from the Wonder Car on to Kandikane Lane. It is well that Sam arrived just in time to help Tracy tame the wild woman and save Kandikane’s life from being choked out. Put the cuffs on Sprocket; cuff Silver (even if he’s still out cold), and find and deal with Lena Hyena (call Animal Control, I suppose). And call an ambulance for Vitamin! Once the perps are controlled, the two of you MCU guys ought to be able to get this all done tout suite!

IF Silver’s not dead as I imagine all of us think (except of course our friend Sydney whom I haven’t a clue what he thinks!) then when Tracy realizes Sprocket did play a part however misguided in saving little Dickey perhaps he’ll feel the need to help rehabilitate her. Remember, it wasn’t too long ago many were cheering her on, feeling she had some redeeming qualities. Who knows, she might turn out to be another Mole. The hardest part will be getting her to turn against Silver in exchange for leniency; her loyalty to him is strong.

Well, given the handcuffed depiction in panel 3 … that just about ‘Wraps Up’ the Nitrate’s story line, save a day or two of after story talk in the strip (and a bit of the current on going ‘speculation’ on the board) . . .

So now we can, with keen anticipation, look forward to the Blackhearts story line, and in particular, what unique part Faux Moon Maid and (a promised?) more ‘enabled’ Honeymoon - will play in that outcome ! ?

Lost in the background of the current action - has been Hyena Lena - ?And it might cross our ‘minds’, that if the Police Zoo (12-17-66) post Bribery era - still exists (?) will Lena become a new member (?) . . . joining other animal story-line ‘relics’ like Lil Dropout, Kitty Square, Clybourne the crow, and the Ozone parrot ?A thought of mild interest - to Gould fans ! (?)

According to Wikipedia, March 19 is Father’s Day in Andorra (Dia del Pare), Belgium (Antwerp), Mozambique (Dia do Pai), Bolivia, Honduras, Croatia, Italy (Festa del Papà), Switzerland (Canton Ticino), Liechtenstein, Portugal (Dia do Pai), Spain (Día del Padre).

While the third Sunday is June is the most common day for celebrating Father’s Day, there are nearly 30 different days used by various countries. March 19 is the second most common date among the various countries.

I have to say I like Sprocket. She’s the most complicated character I’ve ever seen in Dick Tracy. Sprocket isn’t one of the cold-blooded career criminals like B-B Eyes or even Silver, and has shown some positive qualities that have had us cheering for her.Yes, she just tried to throttle Kandi, but only because she panicked and thought Kandi had killed her brother.Sprocket’s even crying as Tracy arrests her. (That’s something I’ve never seen before, here or elsewhere – a villain crying as they’re taken away.)I hope we see her again.

@cpalmeresq… he® motives were not altruistic!

In a way they were. She was concerned about the baby, which is all the more ‘spectacular’ as it is a Tracy relative.

I agree that, although the actual killing of Stiletta was self-defence from Stiletta’s attack, the argument about Trey that prompted the attack from Stiletta was pure altruism.

You noticed Tracy didn’t read Sprocket her Miranda rights? A slick attorney can get her off for that. And I wonder will they charge Kandikane for murdering Silver or will they let her go like they did Montana Joe after he shot Tabby Angus last year?

On February 27th Stiletta told Sprocket “I know all about your dealings with Tracy. Help me and I’ll help you leave all that behind.”

Is that what Sprocket meant when she said “I helped you”?

Remarkable how Sprocket’s shades never come off when being wrestled into custody.

Leniency for Sprocket? If she tells her story to Tracy how she “helped save” Trey from Stilletta’s plot, and showing her wound, perhaps.

Silver (thunked by a brick, seeing stars—he’s alive) most likely go up the river, but will Sprocket be towed along? Interesting development.

    Avenger09, another great one!

I think Tracy ought to show Sprocket the back door, like he did Blackjack. She ought to have all that cash they left with, so she ought to be fixed for a while. She had better forget her brother and if anyone asks, say,“Who?”

From the description, Stiletta may have been mutilated by Lena Hyena.

I don’t think there was time for that. I’m thinking that any mutilation would have been caused by the film can hitting her and anything that she broke when she fell.

Wouldn’t be surprised if one her relatives shows up seeking revenge though.

Well, there is Blowtop, but he is not likely motivated for revenge after what Stiletta did to him. Besides, revenge against Sprocket will be difficult; it looks like she’s on her way to jail.

Great Story, Mr. Staton & Mr. Curtis! This comics still surprises me as it did back in the late 1970’s reading "Dick Tracy’ in NYC’s “Daily News!”I feel bad for Sprocket because she feels like she lost her brother, even though he abused her in the past. I can tell you that Sprocket is a “Wild One” when she faces the cops. Anyway, I think Silver is alive, but who knows? Maybe he and his sis will do their time in jail and become reformed (Maybe) due to that bumb on Silver’s head courtesy on Candican Lane.

Probably in the “missing 4th panels.” We already did get some explanation of her motivation on March 2: “He’s just a little helpless baby! You know I could never do that, Silver.” Even Sprocket has limits!
