A little off-topic (however, Surely they have big spiders in Pitts!)…anyway, I’m sitting in my computer chair trying to get caught up in FB (Ha!), when my hub points out this Really Big spider about a foot and 1/2 away from my computer desk. I mean Really big…bigger than a silver dollar! Now, the hub hates spiders…me, not so much. But this one completely grossed me out! We have an environmentally approved bug spray, so I get it and its empty! And now this thing is running towards me! So, the hub tells me “Smash that spider”. And I say, "No, way…I don’t want to have spider goosh all over my new LLBean deck shoes!!! Well, it finally ran back under my computer desk where I sincerely (!) hope it is one dead spider! Of course, IS Katie was extremely interested in what was going on…she probably thought we were nuts! I don’t think Greg has ever drawn something about spiders, has he?! =-O

Do they teach pre-college students how to deal with the challenges of attending college today? Like time management for one. Or, how to check out the college campus. Or, how to get along with your room-mate, etc. That wouldn’t have helped me as my first class (and most all of my freshman and sophomore classes) was in the evening and the community colleges I attended did not have on-campus housing. However, I sure could have used an Intro class on how to research and write assigned papers! (I had a college prep class my Junior year in high school, but I could find nary a note about how to go about this!). I guess Luann has learned the hard way, but perhaps that is just the way she needed to learn about her new life as a college student! ;)

This spider was way too big to grab with a piece of toilet paper (it needed industrial paper towel which was in the garage not that close to where I’m at!). Yes, that spider Must be history by now as I don’t see it anymore (but I do keep looking under my computer desk and all of the wires and such)!!! ;)

Luann was probably busy putting the cart before the horse. Literally. The principal combines work study with their required community service and detention/disciplinary action. And it teaches problem solving skills, as they learn which way to put the horse back in front. Then the Principal gets a free ride around…..That, and a convenient way to keep PE in the school….– Oh, and also she was probably too busy "yelling at Quill! " for not being there enough in her mind….

Most of her “planning” could have been done in the roughly five hours she had between leaving the house; which I assume to have been around 7am as Frank had not yet left for work, and her noon class.Where was she? Off playing tonsil hockey with the Boy from Oz?

I didn’t realize college prep was supposed to hold your hand. You would have thought that Luann would know about planning out her timing and where to park without having someone tell her that. Then again, this is the same girl who decided to go to Pitts CC because it would enable her to spend more time with Quill. Seems logic is not her strong suit.

All her high school courses were useless to Luann, who learned nothing at all. That’s why she’s in junior college (for maybe one semester). And this C.C. seems to have a campus the size of the University of Michigan. What’s up with that?

I just went on the spider web site, sorry. Just what I needed to know. A spider spits. Yuck! A faux black widow, wonderful. This is just two of the thirty three different spiders in Oregon. The one spider that you don’t have is the Garfield newspaperus , splatterus, flaterus, pancakeus, spider..

Good thing she’s still a dependent of Mom & Dad, so she doesn’t have to: 1) Find an apartment, 2) Find a job or other funding to pay costs, 3) Find a grocery store, 4) Find a laundromat, 5) Find a church community… like those of us who became independent at 18 did!

Eh, he could do that when she graduates college with a mountain of debt and no job prospects, and the “adult life” factor would be ramped up 100

Maybe, but we all know where her focus is now… and with her turning 18 very soon, I’m sure there will be a push to “assert herself,” and I’m sure there will be a lot of " “push back” from Frank & Nancy (i.e. “Not in our house”)! Had Lu been attending Moony, the problem wouldn’t exist, as she’d have her residential space away from the house, albeit she’d have to deal with her roommate’s “house rules,” and that of the Univ…

Not only that, but sometimes putting too much detail into the story at the beginning will drag it down, some, and limits what you can do creatively. Once you get in your mind where you want it to go, or when you can tell what the audience would be most moved by, then you can fill in those details later on…

My wife once found a wolf spider on the kitchen counter. Just then, it jumped about half a foot, landing on a house fly that had alighted and paused for a second, killing it instantly. She decided to let the spider be.
