You’ll only see that in Bavaria (Southern Germany). And rarely, at that. If Wolf is from, say, Berlin, he is Prussian and dresses the same way Joe does. (I’m there right now).

Also, “Sound of Music” takes place some 80 years ago—everybody dressed differently then! He should take a look at my mom’s high school yearbook from 1938!

Some Bavarians still dress like that—especially during Oktoberfest.

I’m wondering if Wolfie is complaining to his mom about how you look, Joe…

Totally useless trivia of the day:

In one scene in The Sound of Music, the real Maria Von Trapp can be seen in the background, walking across the screen with one of her grandchildren (the child of one of the children in the movie).

The real Von Trapps didn’t cross the Alps on foot while running from Nazis. They simply boarded a train and got lost in the crowd. That probably wouldn’t have won any Oscars, though.

There have been plenty of musical families (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Family_musical_groups), but the Trapp Family Singers did it first.

I’ll bet Wolf thinks you look like Spanky from The Little Rascals.

Thanks for using the mildest of Germanic stereotypes.
