An interesting thought, the reptilians are the only mutants I can recall that don’t have “human” eyes. Felines usually have slit pupils which only widen to round shape in extreme darkness, this allows them to see well in a wide variety of light conditions. None of the anthro felines I’ve seen (Wally, Flask, Cliff Dunbar come to mind) have slit pupils. Is that just an artistic choice or is there something more telling there?
I somehow doubt this, and his explanation here still seems more than a little bias, not helped by the fact that he’s obviously trying to pussy-foot around certain details yet unrevealed. He’s going to have to do better to convince me, at least.
Wow! This guy should run of President of the UAW, or just about any other union. Unions in general have similar ideologies to the Lizards’ and ways of “processing” new members.
He doesn’t say what kind of offer.it could be a good one of “if you…then” or a bad one “if you don’t….we may have to…”Or maybe he hopes she lays an egg, and then feel compelled to…eat your friends.
Perhaps the only hopeful development here is Sarah’s sudden growing care for her companions – not to mention her continued keeping Piotr at a distance..Somehow, this strip is reminding me of National Lampoon’s Deteriorata..You are a flukeOf the universeYou have no right to be hereAnd whether you believe it or notThe universe is laughing behind your back. And, no matter what happens, everything continues to deteriorate!.I understand that drama requires bad things to happen, usually to good people..A struggle I am having with this strip: Does anything good ever happen to anybody? Ever?.No matter how bad things get – don’t worry: Next week, things will get worse!
This is one of those strips where going through the archives can be helpful. I started reading during “The Ballad of Holly and Wally” which started on January 17, 2011 (see below for link).
Thus I’ve seen a fair amount of the good to go with the bad including the delightful duo falling in love, their joining Flask and Petey on their ill fated rocket mission. Meeting with Aaron Marx, Linda’s trying to adjust to mutant life in Endtown, the Milk Trial and Wally and Holly leaving Endtown. In case you’re wondering, Endtown is a place, the name of one of the larger underground mutant settlements.
As far as the nature of the mutants, I think you hit it on the head. They’re all humans who lost everything they had. Not only did they lose their jobs, homes, friends & family when the end came. They also mutated. Think about going to sleep as a fairly attractive young woman and waking up as a 30 inch tall mouse girl, and Holly had one of the nicer mutations. Everybody out here has lost everything. Some people are wise and brave enough to try to start over, some aren’t but everybody hurts.

OK, so way later than the strip’s date: Piotr Pepper picked the party’s pockets.
