I hope we get to see Quill’s diploma, to check whether his full name is in fact “Quill!”

It’s been looking to me like Greg has been closing out everyone’s stories. Leading to retirement? I wonder if he’ll take them through summer vacation and into the beginnings of the rest of their lives.

Well, it looks like they’re gonna do it – Luann graduates and starts over post high school How does this bode for the cast of characters? My ideas.Frank, Nancy, Brad, Toni, Puddles – All continue to be important characters in the strip.Bernice – One way or another, she continues to hang with Luann.Delta – Slowly fades into Aaron/Diane land, like she’s been doing for years.Gunther – Will stick around. Maybe his mom’s health causes him to go to Pitts CC instead of Moony Uni, maybe they come up with a different excuse.Quill – Surprise, he’ll stay Luann’s romantic interest at least for a couple more years – sort of like Cathy and IrvingRosa – Moves away and joins Miguel and Zane as somebody’s that we used to know.Crystal and Knute – will continue to pop up as occasional charactersTJ, Elwood, Shannon, Jonah – remain occasional characters as needed.Phelps and Fogarty – now can be seen with Ben York, Stuart and Claudia.Ox – Assumes a bigger role.Leslie Knox and Ann Eiffel – On retainer for whenever baddies are required.Tiffany – Becomes more important than ever. Oh, Oh G-Man. Looks Like “Our” Plan of getting RID of Rosa so You can Make a MOVE on Luann has been THWARTED by a Convenient RICH Uncle who MAY Make it possible for Rosa to STAY in the USA and Just Happen to attend the SAME College as YOU! BAH and Double DRAT!!!

It would appear that way as it’s way too late for Gunther to make any real plans to move there. He would not be able to apply to any schools. There was the slight off-chance that Gunther could have gone to Yale as he has heard about it in time to apply there himself, but Peru is out of the question.

I wonder what Rosa is going to do there? She also didn’t have time to apply anywhere. Is she going to join some local community service group to pass the time? If her ultimate goal is to get into the Peace Corps, she should just get her degree.

I never thought that she would be attending university in Peru. I always thought it would be some kind of “Peace Corps” like volunteering of some sort. Perhaps in conjunction with a university somewhere on a “deferred admission” arrangement. I’m thinking Gunther might be able to do something similar, at least for a year… deferred admission.

Lu and Gunth may be destined for each other, :“eventually,” but it doesn’t mean that it’s supposed to happen immediately. It might take a while and a few “in between” relationships to make it happen. Gunther/Rosa could be one of them. I’d like to see Gunther “man up” and go with Rosa, and Ms. Berger to play “facilitator/enabler” by taking Quill in as a boarder (while he’s at Moony Uni) and freeing Gunther of that burden.

More to the point, Rosa considered Luann’plans A and B and rejected them as being unfulfilling or otherwise deficient and came up with a C which she considered more acceptable and which needed her uncle’s agreement to carry out.

How hard can Spanish be to learn?Niñas and niños speak it.

Since Peru is in the southern hemisphere, the academic year begins in March. Rosa would have until October to apply to a university there, for the upcoming freshman class. In the meantime, she could work for her uncle, or she could get a job with some sort of non-profit that helps people there.

Aaron Hill won’t return. In the video we watched last week, Greg made it clear with his voice and body language that Aaron is gone for good. ~Rosa still cannot join the Peace Corp, but I bet there are plenty of opportunities to work with the poor in Peru.~I can’t imagine this strip without Gunther. If he goes anywhere, he will come back often and then finally be back for good. ~Tiffany will stick around. Comic strip main characters need a villian. I would rather she end up a Paris model, but I don’t think that will happen until the death of this strip.~Luann will get pregnant. Gunther will be the father. They will get married with Luann’s father holding the shotgun. Oh, wait. This is a comic strip.

While that makes for an interesting story, I wouldn’t suggest anyone in the real world to “man up” and follow your high school girlfriend’s dreams. That path will almost always end in bitterness, resentment, and heartbreak.

How do you know? Becuase “it’s what happened to you?”

Gunther has a solid plan of getting his engineering degree in town while still being around to help out his Mom. Rosa couldn’t be bothered to consider staying as an option, so why should Gunther throw everything to follow Rosa’s dreams? They aren’t HIS dreams, they’re HERS.

And what? You think he might not be willing to defer HIS dreams for HERS for a bit if he thought it meant growing their relationship (and if that’s what he wants)? People do it all the time. I don’t know what’s in his mind, at the moment, but, for the first time, he has someone in his life that’s truly into him. Why would he want to give that up so quickly?

Like I say, Lu and Gunth might be destined for each other, “eventually,” but it doesn’t necessarily mean right now. It may take a relationship or two for them to realize that.

Nope. But I knew a lot of people that followed friends/relationships to expensive colleges not knowing what they wanted to do, and came out a lot poorer for it. I chose to go to a good school that gave me a free ride. I could have gone to a similar school without the free ride that my gf went to, but we broke up not long after college started. I also had friends who stayed with their girlfriends long distance all four years and got married after. if it’s meant to be, it will work long distance. if not, it won’t.

None of that means it’s wrong for Gunther. I prefer to see the glass as “half full.”

I’m not saying he won’t give up everything to follow his girlfriend who was all but about to dump him in January for not being adventurous enough. I’m saying it would be not the right move for Gunther because he’s not crazy about adventure, he’s shown no interest in going overseas, he hasn’t tried to learn Rosa’s family language, he wants an engineering PhD, and he’s shown no interest in deferring his career goals to help people.

You make Gunther out to be very pathetic.

And you make him out to be rigid, unyielding and not open to change. Maybe Rosa can change him. She seems to have had a good start of it in re: the prom.

Gunther is, by no means pathetic, weak, or anything of he sort. He can be strong, brave and driven when he wants to be. He just needs the right motivation. All I’m saying is, perhaps Rosa is that motivation… for now. The rest, hopefully, he’ll figure out in due time.

If Rosa is Peruvian, why is she talking like a Mexican?

I hope Plan C doesn’t involve Gunther. He does not want to leave his hometown. If it involves him Rosa should have discussed it with him first.

Sending Gunther to Moony Uni and Luann to Pitt CC should have that effect, even if the two schools are in the same county. The Gunther / Luann relationship is a case of “been there, done that”. It is indeed time for new storylines with new characters, so let’s see who Luann’s new suitors at Pitt CC will be.

Agree… it could be a major decision for both of them. In fact, because it’s a relationship, it already is a big decision for both of them….

LOL! – In that instance, it was a “mutual decision”… but she had to help…convince him…. -How Gomer arrived: It was eventually Daddy’s turn to do some persuadin’…. with the help of his friend Bing Crosby (considered by some folk to be the Barry White of his time)….

Yes, it would be good for Luann to actually do schoolwork, study a subject, and learn a job skill rather than spending every waking hour trying to attract a boyfriend. Will she do it? That would be so wholly out of character for Luann that it would require a personality transplant. She will obsess over the first cute guy she sees on the first day of class at Pitt CC.

Only then is a relationship a choice.*If you enter a relationship when you’re needy, you are apt to hook up with an abuser.

Un-oh. We do not know what “Plan C” is, but it sounds ominous for the future of the relationship between Rosa and Gunther. Will she be going to her uncle in Peru? Will Gunther go or stay? Maybe Tio is coming to California, even to Pitts. We do not know, except that Rosa says she will see her tio soon…. I am eager to see C. Si?

…But speak it (Spanish) with a Peruvian accent which is most likely different from speaking it with a Mexican accent. Puerto Ricans also have their own Spanish accent. It used to be that high schools taught Castilian (sp.?)Spanish, the original accent so to speak, although I’m pretty sure that there are some different cultural accents. In other words, there are a lot of Spanish accents… =-O

I noticed some earlier comments about Aaron Hill. Why would he be in Peru, and if he indeed was there; what difference would it make to Rosa & Gunther?

When College comes in the fall, I hope the experiences of Quill and Tiffany in Moony U’s Drama department will get a decent amount of coverage, in comparison to Luann’s life at Community College!

Maybe we’ll be re-introduced to a lot of old characters; Bernice’s brother Ben, Crystal’s brother Josh.No one else seems to have parents except Luann, and Gunther, so I don’t expect anything there. (SHouldn’t someone be doing a Skype feed to Ozland?)

Not to pick nits here, but a Latina would be unlikely to say “mi tío,” when talking directly to her uncle. Aunts and uncles are referred to directly by using simply tío or tía without the first name, whereas English speakers refer directly to them as Aunt Muriel, Uncle Bill, etc. In other words, to say the word “mi” with “tío” to her uncle would be like saying, “Blah blah blah blah, my mother,” when talking to one’s mother.

Hang on, how is it that Quill is graduating too?Didn’t he go home to Australia and come back to America only to work, not to go to school? And wouldn’t his school in Australia be 6 months off from America?
