I’m not sure if Angus is a loan shark or an unhappy investor? So far Angus hasn’t done anything illegal. If he is legit. He could sic the law on Kolossal for embezzlement!

A loan shark who does his own collections? And where will Kolossal get the money?I still wonder if there’s something going on here we haven’t seen yet.

Kolossal had better come up with some money fast or he’s not going to be in good share come Monday. I’m fairly sure that Angus is “loaning” the money to Kolossal. For sure, there is something going on here that we haven’t seen yet.

Interesting; Mr. Angus goes soft, Kolossal dodges a metaphorical bullet. But now, this could go in any of several directions. Kolossal welches and Angus terminates his life contract. Kolossal develops some cojones but not brains and offs Angus. Kolossal commits some act of desperation and comes up with hot cash to repay the ruddy Scotsman. Or, we cut to some other story angle and leave Kolossal dangling….

So unless I miss my guess (I probably am…) Angus is loaning money to Kolossal to fund the studio? But Angus wants a “payment” every week? Sounds a lot like money laundering to me, so I doubt Angus will call the police or Kolossal

Could Mr. Kolassal be exhaling 3rd hand smoke ? ;-)

The problem with dead people is they can’t pay off their loans and Angus knows that all too well. Now if the money’s not there come Monday, I see a few broken bones in the future.

Sisyphos: I’m betting on the latter..Food for thought: Can Team Tracy “off” a character from another strip? Suppose the current Annie team (if there is any) has plans for Kolossal in a future story. “Oh, I’m sorry, he got killed off in Dick Tracy!”.If Kolossal is a crook, then he’s not a very good one. His loss may be our gain!

@DaJellyBelly To invest may not necessarily imply being invested in a product or project, but it usually entails an interest in more than just interest, if you follow me. :) Angus has said he has no concern over the application of his funds (i.e., movies and cartoons), so it seems safe to think of him as a loanshark, and not a silent partner.

Tough few days! Had to bring mom to a nursing home, she was falling down too often and was bound to badly hurt herself at some point. She’s 87 and rapidly losing her memory. Makes me feel old! :-( Also a very good friend, Carl was severely injured in a car crash on the Belt Parkway in Queens. Some reckless fool cut him off causing Carl to lose control and slam head-on into a concert divider. He’s on a respirator and currently has no feeling from his chest down. Doctors are cautiously hopefully he’ll regain his feeling and movement. He’s 73 so he’s not a spring chicken. I’d appreciate it if you would keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I’m sure you’ll understand if I’m not my normal feisty self the next few days.

Best remedy for a chronic gambler, broken arm. If that does not cure them sterner measures may.

Over the past week, I’ve been doing a major overhaul of the Dick Tracy article at TV Tropes WIki. The original article was fairly brief and reflected the CW on the strip for decades, namely, “Things went bad with the Moon Era, but then Max Allan Collins saved the day!” With the success of Moon Maid’s return, and the emergence of her fans, I felt this CW was no longer appropriate, so I tried to bring a more balanced account of the Moon Era and Collins. I figured the best way to do that was to revise the main article into a semi-detailed account of each decade of Gould’s run, followed by accounts on each of his successors (since no Tracy successor to date has lasted two full decades, I didn’t feel the need to group their work by decades). You can find it here:

Here’s a career; Mickey Rooney was around so long he was in the movie Manhattan Melodrama that John Dillinger attended the night he was killed. Now that’s longevity. RIP Mick

“I want my money come Monday!”I don’t know why Kolossal is relieved. Monday is only two days away from his perspective. Maybe he’s thinking of writing some hot checks?

Apparently Angus is a loan shark, and Kolossal foolishly bet loaned money on the horses. They both seem pretty shady.

@ avenger09 Sorry to hear about that. I’ll say good words for her (and you!) My wife had her second breast cancer surgery today. She’s 72 and spent the last 6 months doing chemo. Taxol. 2 knee replacements the year before. I’ve turned into a nurse for the last 2 years. Gettin’ old ain’t worth a damn anymore. It’s a bummer. Her friends call me Nurse Rachett.
