Is that German or Dutch in the final panel? (Well, at least Andy didn’t manage to call a TV repair man; Andy wouldn’t want to waste his beer money on the bill.)

The German says, “God evening. How are you today?”

Sorry about that, it’s Good evening, not God evening!

Since when does Andy get up off the couch to do anything, especially “fiddle” with the tv? Greg would have had flo try to fix it and Andy yell at her for making him miss the second race. 2/10

The language is German, though with a typo. The meaning is “Good evening. How are you tonight?”

It’s German: Good evening. How are you today?

    Sie sind willkommen!

There is no umlaut in “guten”. That’s the two dots above the U.

Actually, “How are you today” is Wie geht’s dir/Sie/du/euch etc. “Wie geht es heute” is more like “How’s it going today” or “How is your day”. Vielen Dank for trying.

In the old analog TV transmission days a british PAL set would not be compatible with european broadcasts. Now with digital TV he would more likely be fiddling with the antenna.

“That’s the problem with living in England, you’re too close to Europe.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~By golly, you’re right! I never realized that. Even when I lived in England and visited Italy, France and Switzerland, I was not aware of how close I was to Europe!

. I don’t think Andy Capp is a family strip. A hardcore alcoholic layabout that mistreats his wife, is not for the family, but we like him that way, especially when Smythe was running the strip.^^Smythe’s Andy was much more “3 dimensional” in personality, which is why you could like him, despite his bad side; now, Andy is just a drunk who has no good side

“Aye,The closest Andy will ever get to understanding German is: Oktoberfest.”

    Maybe throw “Heineken” in there?

Even TV in German is better than none at all, as Andy gets cranky without his tube…

Unfortunately, euthanasia is the subject of European law. They are now debating as to whether it’s OK to euthanase children (with consent of both parents)..Also it’s now been decided that a life sentence should mean a life sentence (like it used to be).

But having said that…. I rate Velvet Underground’s, Japan’s and Nico’s versions of “All Tomorrows Parties” equally.
