In the words of the immortal Bugs Bunny; “They’re all witches”, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

“Swimming” or “floating” a witch involved throwing the suspect into water, with her left hand or thumb tied to her right foot, and her right hand tied to her left foot. The guilty would float, the innocent sink (perhaps because water would reject corrupt agents of the Devil.) A rope was tied around the suspect’s middle, to prevent the innocent drowning.(From http://faculty.history.wisc.edu/sommerville/367/367-131.htm about halfway down)

Any who claim to believe in tests for witchcraft should be tested themselves before they test others, and then burned at the stake just in case they cheated. Then the accused would be free of accusers and the world would be a better place

Athiesm is a belief there is no god. Most athiests are god-type specific, the “I don’t believe in a god who would . . .” nonbelievers. Most are athiests to the Thor-type god, the war-loving god, the let-children-suffer type god, the Loki- type god, et cetera..Others are nonbelievers in any kind of supernatural being: elves, demons, angels, wood sprites, gods, Lady Luck..Others believe in all of the above and anything else anyone proposes.

I’m a bit puzzled about the response to this strip. Usually when there is any religion in a strip, the christian fundamentalists jump in to tell everyone that their religion is the only right one, and that their holy book is the true one. Now here is a strip which very clearly would be conducive to the quoting of said Holy Scriptures, to wit, “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” (Exodus 22.18), and yet not a peep from the bible thumpers. Surely they would never shrink from boldly proclaiming their faith, theology and scriptures to the sin-darkened, secularized minions of Satan who frequent these comment threads, and might laugh at anyone who actually proclaimed a belief that witches are real, nor would they pick and choose from among God’s most holy commandments. So, why no response? Are they all out Christmas shopping? Or are they merely not casting their pearls before swine?
