Mr. Luckovich’s cartoon is divisive and will only harden the positions of most of those who agree and disagree with him.Fortunately for him, there are plenty of folks who enjoy justifying their uncompromising and recalcitrant stands so they can flame those with whom they disagree rather than have a dialectic conversation about why Mr. Luckovich might have chose these people as “problems” in our politics. A conservative cartoonist could have easily provided similar caricatures of liberals whose political behavior has contributed to the divisiveness and weakening of our nation and the insults between neighbors.Respectfully,C.
Actually that sounds like a description of the Tea Party and those of the GOP who forget what the Constitution and our Pledge of allegiance really says instead of what they wish it had said.
I agree with both of your comments, Ahab. I made a comment about Citizen’s United very recently and its effects on our gov’t and behaviors of our elected. But just as I call out the conservative artists for adding fuel to the flames dividing neighbors, my trollish nature demands I do the same here. Mr. Luckovich is talented and better able to communicate his message in a way that is more educational and less confrontational. However, that is my view and my sister would agree with you. I’ve a daughter who would agree with the photograph depicting a conservative view of Mt. Rushmore.I believe the actual figures on that mountain would be disappointed in how their efforts have been perverted by those in office.Thank you for the reply, and know that I do respect your opinion and enjoy your writings.Respectfully,C.
The fact that there are commenters for this cartoon that see the fools represented as intelligent shows clearly the intellectual bankruptcy of the modern day Republican Party.
@-Allan Russell. Are you sure you don’t mean he’s the boogie man? Really dude, you must try to elevate the level of your discourse if you want to be taken seriously!
@respectful troll: I think you sorta kinda have a point; but the fact is that he is not a conservative cartoonist and, also, there are plenty of con cartoonists that do this sort of thing and to a far greater degree bringing in racist elements that have nothing to do with the issues. Always remember “nine, nine, nine” and “three things….one, two and……..oops!” And Santorum’s imitation of the Taliban with his 16th century religious inhibitions. These people trashed them selves and weren’t even respectable in the process. So I tend to agree with luckovich’s characterizations. You don’t. So be it!
Perry should have been tried and convicted. I am sure that a proper investigation of his activities would yield plenty of evidence of corruption. The problem is the system just dealt with something recent that didn’t involve a lot of taxpayers’ money.
Now we have Perry in a job he’s totally unqualified for (he only has an agricultural degree), and Cruz is STILL in the Senate! At least we’re rid of the other 3 useless ones.

If these characters were trying to help Americans, and help America succeed, they wouldn’t be placed on the mountain of shame.

Wait a sec – don’t you have to have been born in the USA to rate a spot on Mt. Flushmore?

Your post doesn’t really work, considering how little legislation has been PASSED by this Congress.

This is great! However, Cain hasn’t been elected to anything – he was just a grandstanding businessman.

Luckovich could draw this again this year, with JEB, Scott Walker, Ryan, the soon-to-be-convicted Perry, and of course that Canadian, Cruz.

Three of these bozo’s hats are in the ring already again! It’s one really big clown bus heading in the general direction of New Hampshire.

Well, now on 5/7/2016, another gaggle of right-wing loons of the “GOP” have failed again. Could they possibly learn from this? Probably not.

Time to add Trump (Drumpf) to this panel.
