My departed wife would freak in a storm and almost strangle me. The TV antenna right outside her window was struck by lightning when she was nine and she feared storms ever since. I’d wake up, having trouble breathing, hear a rumble of thunder and realize why I was sleeping with a cross between an octopus and a python. I’d just shift around, cuddle her and we’d both go back to sleep.
My fiancee has warned me that she loves storms. If she hears rumbles at night, I should expect to have the blinds pulled up so she can watch the lightning show.
When I was a child my mother would bring me to the door during thunderstorms, so that I could enjoy the beautiful lightnings. It wasn’t until I was a grown up, that I realised the genius of my mother: We lived in at strawthatched house and my mother wanted us to be ready to get out quickly if lightning struck. She didn’t though impose her fear on me, but sold her readiness to me as an event of beauty.

How sweet. And the cat is either terrified under the bed or sleeping through the whole storm (like my cat does).

My wife always has a hard time getting to sleep, until I cuddle and place my arm arm around her tight. Arlo’s got it right.

My sentiments exactly!

It works both ways. He would do this for me, then when he had cancer I would hold him tightly at night so he could relax and sleep.
