   I once said to a fotographer, that I wanted a good foto with a good likeness of me. “You’ll have to decide want you want most”, he replied (he is dead now, but we were good friends for many years – also after that remark)

   Must butterflies actually are active at night. Of approximately 500 species in Central Europe only about a hundred are mainly active during daytime.

   Birth mortality didn’t fall with birth moved to hospitals. Until the insights fof Ignatz Semmelweis birth mortality was almost twice the rate of deaths with midwifes. The midwifes knew from thousands of years of experience the necessity of cleanliness, whereas doctors in Wienna (where I. S. practices) actually did go directly from autopsies to births without washing hands. In the Netherlands the birth mortality rate (in the 1970s and -80s) were the lowest in Europe although 90 percent of births happened in the home of the mother to be. In Denmark at the same time practically every birth happened in hospitals or clinics attached to hospitals, but mortality was a European average. So hospital is not synonym with security. The experience of the midwife and her ability to calm the mother (and father too, when he’s attending) is probably the most counting influence.

   Nope. Only in 2000 the presidential election was in a leap year. The next time that happens will be in the year 2400. Only every fourth last year of a century is a leap year. The first time it happened was in the year 1600, but only in the countries which had adopted the gregorian calendar. In my native country that was in the year 1700 starting on the first of March. It came with an outcry for the missing 12 days from the 16. of February an onwards.

   Why doesn’t she just step aside instead of trying to outrun the thing? But of course Arlo prefers her all sweaty, I guess.
