These two seem like pretty good guys. Even using the formal, “Chief Detective Tracy.” Maybe they can help more after Jumble’s next caper.

Now we know why Tracy and Sam went to the newspaper! But the Jumble team doesn’t really have much to offer, so far.Nice portraits of Tracy, Sam, and Tracy and Sam in panels 1 through 3 respectively.

Good morning everyone. The kid with the glasses seems like a nice guy but he has funny moving hair. I hope I haven’t offended anyone who has funny moving hair, not my intention.

After getting George T. to dupe Sweatbox with a fake confession, I wonder if Tracy will ask the Jumble guys to plant a message for the Jumbler?

The Jumble duo should do a Jumble puzzle with Dick Tracy in it (The Jumble duo did 2 with Peanuts characters in it in the past).

Actually I don’t think different angles, or different perspectives can explain away a hair part that changes direction but what do I know, I’m only a nit-wit (a slow-witted, stupid, or foolish person). I hope that posting the definition of nit-wit hasn’t offending anyone; it’s not my intention to do so. I do wonder if the need to name call is necessary or should be allowed here. I hope questioning this hasn’t offended anyone; it’s not my intention to do so.

And now the novelty has officialy worn off, for me at least.

Time to stiffle the urge to go for the bait. With no takers to get that little bob a’bouncing, perhaps the fisherman will stop casting out lines rather than running the risk of offending any fish.

    And good morning Vista Morrow.

Oops! Make that “And good morning Vista, morrow.”

David Hoyt is the bald guy and Jeff Knurek is the one with glasses. Whoever mentioned that they look like the just walked out of Archie comics is right! Since “Jumble” is a Tribune product, the Tracy guys probably know them. Pretty cool, I think.

I have done the Jumble almost every day since the 1960s. The current team is relatively new, and i like them. I have read Dick Tracy almost every day since the 1960s. The current team is relatively new, and I like them. I hope I haven’t offended anyone; that was not my intent.

And we see Tracy and Sam doing some real detective work today (interviewing experts who might help in the case) – and I DO hope this comment offends someone, somewhere. We all should be offended by something every day. It gets the blood flowing.

“it tells me the creative team has the nerve to march to its own drummer rather than do gooder censors and prohibitionists. Following his own drummer is how Gould made Dick Tracy such a great strip in the first place.”I couldn’t agree more, Tommygunner. A big part of what made Dick Tracy so popular was the way Chet Gould drew the strip to please himself and the fans, not the prohibitionists as you say. He got criticized for this, but it’s a big reason his stories are still etched in our minds. I’m not a smoker, but I for one am glad to see Sam puffing away!

Just wondering, is it possible Sam’s smoking a doobie? (not one of the brothers. If one of you posts here I apologize if you took offense, not my intent!) Looks a little like one and it would explain why Tracy doesn’t make him stop. Hope this inquiry hasn’t offended anyone, not my intent!

Just don’t go smelling like one. This elevator is crowded.

You know the old saying Gweedo; “The one who smelt it dealt it”! I’ll have to remember to stay far away from you during the next GoComics Convention! (I apologize if repeating dumb old sayings offends anyone; it is not my intent to stink up the joint!)

Agreed. Gould made smoking a part of Sam’s character. It is as much a part of him as his trademark suit & tie ensemble. Lizz seems to have quit at some point, although she may bum the occasional drag from Sam (off panel, of course, so as not to…).

“…the creative team has the nerve to march to its own drummer”

Absolutely. The strip is in excellent hands. March on, Staton and Curtis.

I watched Batman cartoons as a kid, 1960s, and the ’90s ones were way better.^^ Exactly my point, make a DT series like the 90s Batman AKA BTAS

I’ve been doing the Jumble game in the papers for about 40 years, and still get a kick out of it. While I love the nod to the game, I wish it were Henri Arnold and Bob Lee in the strip, rather than the new team, since in my eyes, they made the Jumble what it is.While not a fan of the UPA studios in general, I did enjoy their Dick Tracy shorts as a kid. I think it helped spur my interest in DT. UPA were THE trendsetters of animation back in the 50s (even Disney had to adapt to what they were doing, as did all the animation studios at the time), but by the time the DT cartoons came out, creative control had switched hands to someone who didn’t share the studio’s artistic vision. Still, the DT episode “Champ Chumps” is a standout in the series. I was always fond of Joe Jitsu going against Stooge Viller and Mumbles, and this one face-off is just classic. Anyone can talk about the obvious stereotypes, but Joe Jitsu was the only one that had great personality, a good character design, and was usually one step ahead of the villains. I’m sure he was inspired by Charlie Chan (or even the detective that Peter Lorre played way back when; the name escapes me), but that kinda thing these days would be forgotten; stereotypes will always be looked upon first.
