Can this be the BD we all know and love? Now a lib? A lefty? Concerned about other peoples in the world? And not just U.S.AAY! U.S.AAY! U.S.AAY! all the time as we trample their freedoms and liberties into the ground, not to mention their sovereignty?

(I mean, not that we’re not patriotic, just that we recognize what true patriotism means in the world. I mean, how would we like it if an Iraq that was 20 times our size, had 30 times our weaponry that was 40 times more advanced than ours, came over here and “shocked ‘n’ awed” us into submission?)

Well, we waited breathlessly for a week for the NRA to break its silence on mass murder, and what did we get? “Put armed guards in every school.” Wow, what did I expect from the shill for the gun industry? How come he missed malls, theaters, restaurants, churches and every other venue where mass killings have happened? Or is that “Plan B”?

    Here are some real threats:

The SUPER-VOLCANO underlying Yellowstone could wipe most of us Americans out.

A MEGA-ASTEROID could begin the extinction of humans — as it did dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

An incominng 6-mile-wide KILLER-COMET of ice and dust could crash and steam us into eternity like lobsters.

I’m with Christopher Hitchens when it comes to religion. Religion is superstitious nonsense. If you want to believe, then that’s your business. But pardon me if I’m laughing at you.

“The Mayans need to easy up on smoking peyote. We’re all still here … hehehe.”

    (A) The Mayans probably didn’t have peyote. They were well south of its natural range. There’s evidence they used entheogenic mushrooms, though.(B) Peyote isn’t smoked, it’s eaten. You could TRY smoking it, and maybe it would have some sort of effect, but it’s most likely a waste, like smoking LSD.

The end of the world ( as he knew it ) came for John, The Tan, Boehner. He couldn’t even bring his GOP caucus in line, to vote on a meaningless proposal, in the House last night. As the Speaker of the House, it was an extreme embarrassment for him and the few rational and reasonable minds left in his party. The Republican Empire is going the way of the Maya. Destroyed, not by outside sources – ( the Toltec and Aztec didn’t destroy Mayan civilization ) – but by cannibalizing itself through internal dissension and irrational fanaticism among the ruling elite.Adios !

    “Maybe the NRA will disappear.”

Probably not in the foreseeable future. NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre just said today that the only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Then he proposed to put an armed man (at 40,000/year/man) in every school in the land.

Prob: How do we know if the “armed man” is a bad man or a good man? People are a mixture of bad and good. How could we have known if the Newtown shooter was a “bad kid” or a “good kid” before the murders occurred?

Gun control must be a part of the answer.

    Volcano eruption = meteor strike?

Don’t underestimate the Yellowstone caldera’s destructive potential. It is not just a volcano, as we think of them. It would make Krakatoa look like a firecracker.

Which do you think was bigger, thebird55, any past eruption of the Yellowstone caldera or the Theia impact 4.5 billion years ago?

“The Theia impact of course that formed the moon and killed whatever life was on earth when became molten again. What is your point?”

Extraterrestrial impacts can be larger than any terrestrial volcano by many orders of magnitude.
