Speaking of which, for those of you who missed it, we had a Moon Maid avatar contest earlier this month. Too late to compete for that, but it would be great if more of you joined in the Mysta craze by creating your own MM avatar. If you need help with ideas, check out the great options Tarry Plaguer uploaded in the October 5 comments page (I posted a few that day, too). Shoot, if enough people show interest, we might even have a second contest. But even if not to compete, creating your own Moon Maid avatar is a great way to show your appreciation for the truly outstanding work Mike Curtis and Joe Staton are doing on our favorite detective strip!

Honeymoon is sharp, and a sweetie to boot! Pop Pop can’t be too upset with her over the Flattop mask. My concern is, why is she being brought into the story at this point? Is something going to happen that will involve her?

just a comment… i find it funny tha whenever SAM is shown in the strip smoking, some specific posters get all righteous and call for the writer to have him stop smoking etc.. but measles has been puffing his cigar for WEEKS now and nobody is complaining…in fact, even stiletta’s occasional puff here ad there didnt raise the cackles as much as sam’s smoking does? why?!? is it because sam is a “good guy” and the “bad guys” dont count for anything? nothing like being selective in your defense of not smoking eh? i’m just sayin…

Smoking used to be considered “chic”. But in recent years, it’s used to denote a “period piece” or to indicate a bad character. I guess this strip is a period piece.

My dad used to shave like that, but I think he switched to an electric razor before he died. My husband always used electric and that was 55 years ago.

Honeymoon is a cutie and she seems to be enjoying a happy, normal childhood with her father, stepmother, halfsister, and extended family. I hope that doesn’t get messed up!

Good Morning Detectives!Monday morning finds Honeymoon being “Funnytop”. It IS almost Halloween after all…..

Well, it took me a few days, but, I’m finally caught up… Thank Goodness that cancer on the DT series (Dick Locher) is gone, his art was so terrible that I stopped reading DT after Fletcher’s death; anyway, on the cigarette debate, all that smoke is disgusting, please get rid of it, or at least just use little “whiffs” coming off the cancer sticks and cigars

We haven’t seen Lizz or Sam for awhile. (I just checked—since Sept 27!) Wonder what they’re up to?

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the colorist flub in panel 3. Honeymoon’s left forearm is in her PJ’s so that shouldn’t be flesh colored. After blowing up the image, I think the colorist is correct about her hand being hidden by the mask, at first I thought he/she had painted Honeymoon’s knuckles brown.

About smoking. An interesting thing happened the other day. I volunteer at a local recycle store here in town. I don’t know how many of you have those, but here in Oregon “green” is a favorite color. Anyway, a gentleman came in looking for a USB charger he could adapt to power his electric cigarette. A couple of the people who volunteer or work there also smoke and they took an interest in it, so he went into great detail about all of the benefits, how he still got his nicotine, but without any tobacco , tar, or other carcinogens. The electric cig uses an atomizer to make a steam that is inhaled and exhaled. I guess they are odorless, and are allowed inside areas that traditional smoking isn’t, such as restaurants and offices. He also said that he got the instructions on-line and made his for about $20. He said that he had saved quite a bit on his expenditure to keep his habit, since the nicotine e-liquid “juice” is rather inexpensive compared to packs of cigarettes, and one bottle lasts a long time. There are also nearly an unlimited number of flavors available and many people mix their own. I found TONS of YouTube videos on mixing your own flavors. Anyway, I thought I would mention it. Seems like a good way to smoke healthy so to speak.Oh, and NO, I do NOT smoke, but if I ever decided to try, this is the way I would go. Maybe it is the electronic geek in me. (grin)

Interesting that Honeymoon knows the exact words Flattop spoke to Tracy when he was intending to murder him (1-17-44). I suppose Pop Pop has told the tale a time or two. I wonder if Junior and Moon Maid ever told her how she was born in a Space Coupe, half way between earth and the moon.

Now that SMOKING comment sounds like MPH – - – peeping through ?

I’m surprised no one has commented on Tracy without his hat. He looks a lot like Superman used to look in the old DC comics. Of course, Superman never had to shave…

GOOD EYE, Sydney! It’s kinda like when you have a coctail party and one of the guests has serious gas problems, it doesn’t take long to figure out who. Some folks jus’ can’t hide it! Jus’ saying.
