Joe… you’re doomed. Go on ahead and cut your manhood off with a dull spoon. Then we’ll send a Eunuch to pick it up, maybe he’ll know what to do with it.

I think the hearts are mutual if strained. Remember that when she walked in and greeted him at the beginning of this arc, he had hearts flying from him – he was in love with her already. The test just might have ruined it, but in this comic, she realizes he is the man for her. What he’ll do is anybody’s guess.

Back before the feminists, about four decades ago, the guy made the moves. It was up to him to move the relationship along. Now days the roles are reversed as we see Victoria moving things along. If you have a son of dating age, you are now asking his girlfriend, “Young woman what are your intentions?”

This has been an interesting series - the whole marriage quiz - it’s gotten the readers so fired up! The series with their comments would make for a good teaching/learning experience in any counseling course.

Not to mention the obvious - it’s funny too. Panel 2 is a great way to condense a lot of action into a minimum of space.

I’d give you a standing ovation, but it’s hard to type that way.

This one is worth framing; a great strip everyday, but this is a classic.

But now they need to talk finances. Joe is basically unemployed, so Victoria is going to end up paying 100% of the bills instead of the equitable 50%.

I was posting when the timer gave me my lunch and I have been reading in the garden. Post was to the effect that NOT using the famous line gave those of us who knew it the “gotcha” while allowing Wiley to be more clever (and I LOVE the 2nd expression too). I no longer read print newspapers. The grocery ads give me enough absorbent newsprint for my bird perches. I DO buy and read many books although my choices are VERY esoteric, many are already used and I will resell or gift many of them later on;-)

Indeed a true Non Sequitur classic. I also agree that the comments on the whole story arc have been most interesting. I grew up admiring Walt Kelly’s Pogo. While Calvin and Hobbs, Far Side, Bloom County and early Doonesbury have all been worthy entries in the same general vein of humorous treatment of serious subjects IMO, Non Sequitur is the one that makes me stop and think more often than any strip since Pogo. Thanks Wiley for my daily dose of stimulating humor.

When I called my local editor to complain about the loss of a comic, they told me they couldn’t please everybody. It’s been interesting reading how the guys all squirm from fear of getting their PP whacked by one of those feminists of the last 4 decades. Get over it guys, we’re here to stay and if you’ve survived this long, you’re probably here to stay too. Great comic arc Wiley!!

My boyfriend picked up a newspaper at work the other day and happened to read the cartoon. He laughed and then mailed it to me. His name is Joe and my name is Victoria. Fate? I don’t know, but I sent him a pre-marriage agreement questionnaire. It simply said, “No questions needed. I’ll take you just the way you are!”

    razorback2824 said,

“No wonder Danae likes Victoria; she’s just Danae all grown up.”

I find it funny that she and Kate spent most of ‘08 trying to convinced Joe to marry her when she was just waiting for the time she thought they were both ready to spring it on him herself.

And yeah, she is very much Danae. They’re going to be dangerous together. I see a very playful and competative relationship for them.
