I’ve met people who actually think that bitcoins have safety nets just like bank accounts. Ain’t no FDIC or anything like it for NFT’s (and those very same folks would never, ever dream of lifting a finger and trying to find out what ’NFT’s’ are so they do kinda deserve it).

I had my doubts, until our 28 yr old son said he took his savings $50k over a yr ago, bot Bitcoin, increased to $700k, sold some, and bot a $400k house. Has 3 bitcoins left he said. Yes he’s single, athletic, a CPA & equity analyst. Available.

Like regular currency and stocks, bitcoin is only worth what people collectively believe it is worth.

Our entire economy is based on good or bad feelings and the confidence of the institutions (be they governments or companies) behind them.

So what is backing up bitcoin? I suggest, like some hyperinflated, stocks: greed. It’s second-cousin to a Ponzi scheme.

I anxiously await the inevitable time of sorrow and pain when people realize the bitcoin is a ponzi scam. There will be much gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes and no few computers killed in the fury. …sad
